Great advice so far. I have to say that I believe combo edges are not a good option for anything smaller than an Endura or Military. Personally , I don't care for combo edges at all, but if' you're intent on a CE blade make sure it's long enough to take advantage of both PE and SE. As far as a serra...

I much prefer the manix lightweight, , but I typically gravitate to larger knives anyway.

Stonewashed Ti is cool, and I like almost all versions of CF, but I really can't get into any knife with SS handles. I too don't like Nishijin, but I think I could like the recently posted blue version. I guess all this is to say to each his own.

These questions come up every so often and everyone seems to have an opinion. Some get all freaked out about using anything except mineral oil for a knife that's going to be used in food prep. Personally, I use nano-oil and have never had a problem. Two reasons: (1) I don't over lube the pivot and I...

You know... the China factory makes the lower costing knives, Seki makes lower costing knives, and the rest are usually the higher costing knives. I am thinking it is easy for a factory to stay at the same quality level across all of the products they make... If you told China to make a very high e...

Although I've posted similar comments before, it's still a bit odd to type the phrase: "I think Spyderco's Taiwan manufacturer is producing the best Spyderco knives right now." But, the truth is the truth. However, I'd say the Golden made knives run a close, almost unperceivable, second. I...

Interesting idea jack. Can't wait to see the pictures. But, what types of steels do you go to that low of an angle with? ZDP, S90v, etc, etc? I think I tend to be rather conservative with my edge angles and keep them a little more on the high side; but with that said, I'm pretty confident I'm not ge...

I would have to agree with the two previous posts. The Delica is a good buy, and the Endura is another option if you're looking for something a little bigger.

By far my favorite Spyderco knife yet. An awesome knife in terms of design/aesthetics, F&F, and materials. It fits my hand like a glove, it's lightweight and yet robust. The CTS-204p steel takes one of the finest edges I've seen and holds it nicely. I did soak the clip in Ferric Chloride to knoc...

Glad you found a set you liked, Jack. One additional thing you might want to look at - a small collection of pure carbide bits in some of the common sizes. Pure, solid carbide bits are extremely hard and can drill hardened steels with ease. However, they are fairly brittle. But for those few times ...

This was my experience as well. +1. A very nice shape for the blade, and if you put more of a value on defense then the handle ergonomics aren't too big of a deal for occasional cutting. However, if you will be using your knife for sustained cutting there are certainly better options with similar b...

I recently picked up a Caly3 in super blue for just that reason. It's nice and light, has great ergos, and the gray G10 is certainly not threatening to the NKP. That said, I'm probably going to pick up a Techno here soon because I think this also works well with suits.
