Re: Do you care about deep carry?

Honestly...Para 3 for example, why wouldn't you prefer the deep carry on the left to the stock clip on the right? Other than spending more money. Still easily accessible and pulls out of the pocket no problem. I'm not trying to start an argument, just curious as to why individuals would prefer the ...

Re: The Brouwer's Clip - More than meets the eye, perfectly meets the hand

(image) (image) Hi kvdo, I think we have similar sized hands. Do you find the G10 on the Brouwer to be more grippy than say the G10 on the PM2? Mine seems slightly grippier. It does look like our hands are right about the same size. I pulled out a new PM2, new Para3, and a used Para3. The new PM2 a...

Re: The Brouwer's Clip - More than meets the eye, perfectly meets the hand

On a side note - are you getting a three or four finger grip on your brouwer behind the choil like in your photo? Four fingers - however, my hands are tiny compared to the average adult male, so I'm not a great reference point. https://i.imgur.com/xwFNHsk.jpg (I don't actually hold the Dragonfly li...

The Brouwer's Clip - More than meets the eye, perfectly meets the hand

Like everyone else who looked at pictures of the Brouwer, I thought to myself "wow, that's a pretty shallow carry." But hey, nothing that can't be fixed with an after-market clip, right? Once my Brouwer arrived in the mail and I held it, I can say that I'm actually quite pleased with the d...

Re: D'Allara 3 ergonomics opinions

I found the D'allara 3's ergonomics quite comfy. On a lot of spyderco models, there's something about the ergos that don't suit me (pocket clip and finger grooves on the Delica, boxy corners on PM2, etc), but the D'allara was solid. I didn't like how difficult it was to actuate the lock, though.

Re: Lil Native Questions (Grip & Future Variants)

I have both the Back Lock and Compression Lock versions of the Lil Native, and I have fairly small hands. I can get a four-finger grip on the Lil Native without the use of the finger choil. The ergonomics on the Back Lock version are superior to the one on the Compression Lock. The Compression Lock'...

Re: New Models Dropped: Lil' Native Backlock, SpyderHawk Salt Orange Sprint, Shaman Black Blade

Does the back lock version have steel liners or not? I heard Eric make that statement on a video from one of the shows, shot or blade, can’t remember. You know, I forgot about that. In looking back at my video, I can't see any liners in there and I think you're right that Eric said it was linerless...

Re: Lil’ Native Back Lock liners?

Got my back lock lil native today, no liners. https://i.imgur.com/DAMpF28.jpg I have the compression lock version as well. I prefer the back lock version in hand - the pocket clip on the compression lock version has a pretty nasty hotspot at the base of the handle, where the corner of the wire clip ...

Re: Smaller chokwe

Wire pocket clip, compression lock, dark-colored G-10, a stainless steel. G-10, it's a good material. Some people say it's boring because it's used too much, but I prefer function over variety-for-the-sake-of-variety. Dark-colored, since I think things like white or light grey G-10 would look dirty ...

Re: Do you think the delica is still relevant?

It will never be relevant to me until they get rid of those finger grooves. Any knife with finger grooves seems to be designed specifically to not fit my hand.

For the larger audience, the Delica seems to be satisfactory in performance, ergonomics, and price.

Re: Boye Detent, a solution in search of a problem?

I find that knives with the Boye dent make unlocking "softer" on my thumb. Maybe something about the increased surface area to contact my thumb? My KC exclusive Pakkawood Delica and Baby Horn Sprint have very similar (and uncomfortably high) lockbar tensions, but the Delica has a Boye dent...

For a folding sharpened pry bar, there's the Shaman. Seems like it's a good base to make a fixed blade out of.

Re: Delica 5

I love the concept of the delica 4. I have owned 3 now, sold them all. I like the knife a lot. The you get an awesome cutting tool for the price. The problem is those stupid finger groves. They hit my fingers in all the wrong places, and then my pinky finger ends up falling half way off of the hand...

Re: What's the intended retention strength of Aqua Salt sheaths?

Instead of using brute force and pulling it out, I use my thumb and push on the spine side rivit and it pops out. See 1:00 on video. Hope this helps. https://youtu.be/87uXKDHHUKY That's what I always did too. I usually had mine horizontal on the front of my belt while hiking or clipped to my backpa...

Re: Shaman not staying worn in?

My Shaman was the same way. When I disassembled it, I found that the detent ball hole had a lot of grit - I believe what was happening was that the detent ball would pick up grit and worsen the action.

After I cleaned out the detent ball, my Shaman stayed smooth.

What's the intended retention strength of Aqua Salt sheaths?

My Aqua Salt arrived today, and after inserting it into the sheath (which took an uncomfortably high amount of force) and having it click into place, I found that I don't have enough strength to actually pull it back out. I'm not a particularly large or strong person, and gripping the sheath and han...

SpyderEdgeForever wrote:What if they did ZDP edge and VG10 body?
I believe the core and outer steels have to have similar heat treatment processes, though I could be remembering wrong.

I don't know if VG-10 and ZDP-189 have a similar heat treatment process.

Stuman and sal, I am glad to see that this metal alloy is even being considered. Thank you for bringing it to the attention of myself and others. This leads to a question I had, sal: Have you all at Spyderco ever experimented with nitinol alloys as either blade steel or perhaps components in the kn...

Looks kinda like a PM2 handle with a Tatanka blade. Wonder why the Compression Lock version was never released - maybe too similar to the Paramilitary?
