Re: G10 UKPK officially makes a return! Heinnie Haynes Exclusive

Personally I am absolutely satisfied with this model and steel choice, I would much rather that Spyderco gave the UKPK a little break and focus on giving us new slipjoint options. I mean, even Zero Tolerance is getting into slippies now, doesn't get any weirder than that. I'm definitely looking forw...

Re: Any info on why the GB 2 is unobtanium right now?

I'm curious why you think it needs CQI? How would you know if you've never held one? I only have two GB1s but I've handled a few GB2s. I can't think of anything I would change. The action is very smooth, the blade shape is great, etc. Some don't like the limited access to the lock bar but the GB2s ...

Re: Cleaning up DLC...it's easy!

I hate feeling the blade of my 4V Shaman and feeling the surface rust all over it. I'm guessing there's no way to get rid of it without removing the DLC in the process? I may just OSPHO it and then tuff glide the blade or paint it. The only reason I'm disappointed is that I've never really used the...

Re: Any info on why the GB 2 is unobtanium right now?

If I had to take a guess (and keep in mind that this is just my educated guess without any evidence to support it...), I would say that the grinding that hollow ground blade in M4 can't be the easiest of tasks, and given that the GB 2 isn't the most sought after knife at the moment, I understand why...

Re: Micarta Shaman 2nd Sprint Run

Since others have chimed in already with their stories, I will provide my own anecdotal evidence as to why the standard Shaman didn't sell more than it did. My personal example is the Spyderco price hike from last year. When the S30V version came out at 140$, it was an amazing deal and I was fully c...

Re: Micarta Shaman 2nd Sprint Run

If it ends up being PD1 as many are speculating, then it's nearly identical to CPM Cruwear (like m390 vs 20cv). Slightly off-topic, one thing strikes me as a bit odd... I did look at some data on PD-1 being almost equal to Cru-Wear, but why isn't there more interest in that particular steel? When i...

Re: Micarta Shaman 2nd Sprint Run

I'm rooting for Team Stonewash here since my desire is to drag this one to work with me, which means that a pretty satin-finish would be trashed by the end of the week, and I'm just not a fan of the "battle-scarred" look on folders, I prefer keeping them presentable in the long term. I thi...

Re: Lil Native slip joint?

Yeah, I think the AEB-L Urbans shouldn't be used as a gauge to measure the success of a Spyderco slipjoint, they are more for steel nerds, plus the color choice isn't for everyone. The folks who wanted the Urban probably already have one in other variants. Speaking for myself, I'm just not a fan of ...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

great point, the s90v CF Shaman is probably one of the best Golden knives out there and is still available lots of places. From my point of view, that specific sprint didn't exactly convince most folks for two reasons: high price and S90V. Yes, it's a wonderful super steel, but in my estimation I d...

Green micarta + Cru-Wear or 4V for me, as well as a stonewashed blade to go with the tough folder theme.

Green micarta here. As for steel, Cru-Wear or 4V would be my choices, gotta keep the tough folder theme consistent. And throw in a nice stonewash finish on that blade while you're there Sal :D

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

I'm out folks. Guess this still isn't the time where I'll finally give Cru-Wear a go haha... My curse will never end! But to be honest, I pretty much saw it coming as soon as the first images started rolling out. This one was always going to be a highly sought after sprint, pretty much the combinati...

General question about Flytanium scales: are the pivot holes D-shaped? From what I have seen so far, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Re: More 4V anyone?

Sal, small request when it comes to 4V... Make sure there is a way for it to reach us European folks :( Last time I saw something cool in 4V from St. Nick's, I sent them an email asking about shipping to Europe (Germany in my case) but unfortunately they don't ship it here, which is pretty disappoin...

But here in Europe i have to pay ~ €250 / $276 for the Cru-Wear Shaman. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it? As a fellow European, I fully understand the pain of paying more for Spyderco knives compared to most people. Please leave some store recommendations for me to keep an eye out!...

Thank you for all the information, stuff like this is why I love roaming around this forum. On topic: what would you recommend when it comes to cleaning and maintenance? Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

Alright, real talk time: who here is planning on using this knife as an honest to God user? I REALLY want one of these as a work knife, but between all the collectors and flippers out there, I feel like I'm a tiny minority. I'm pretty satisfied with my Hogue Ritter in M390, but I hate the disassembl...

Re: seat belt cutting

Any serrated hawkbill shaped blade will make short work of that belt, you get a lot of power and leverage out of that type of knife. I am constantly amazed at how well my very cheap Byrd Hawkbill deals with all the rope and plastic wrapping I throw at it at work. Whatever you choose, I believe anyth...
