So the basic point is a lot of America has it good and can be considered spoiled for choice on the basics of life (food, shelter, etc.) compared to less fortunate parts of the world? Yeah, it's not exactly breaking news. If you're born and raised in a position of having choices then it seems more li...

Continued from above ~ Compared to my other daily carry Spyders, neither of which are anything resembling large or bulky knives, the Des Horn stands out for its thin profile. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s247/jujigatame/Knives/Spyderco/Desgroup1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s247/juji...

Des Horn just came in today. I was on the fence between this and the Kiwi 4 for a bit. Went with Des because it had more aesthetic appeal and style to me. Something about way the blade spine is cut ahead of the Spyerhole and those grooves give it a look like the Concorde or a fighter jet to me. It s...

Reprofiling ZDP with the browns can take forever. You are probably not even on the edge yet. Using a sharpie and magnification should show you what you are actually doing. Agreed. I found ZDP + medium stones to just be a recipe for hand fatigue. To make a real dent in ZDP I think you need more aggr...

Well I ordered the Des Horn today. With many things being equivalent or close enough not to make a difference it just came out ahead as the one that I wanted more. I figure if I end up deciding on the Kiwi 4 in place of or addition to the Horn down the line it should still be easy to get since it wa...

It wasn't on last year's list and it's still in stock at several places so I'd have to say it's not disco'd at this moment in time. I think the cut list usually comes out in November so I suppose one could wait and see if it's on there for next year and if any subsequent deals come from it.

I would think that the Caly Jr. could be done in a huge array of Sprint models and I'm sure most of them will be a screaming success. I think you're right about its prospective popularity but I wonder if potential improvement and re-engineering pose some legitimate challenges. Some of us would take...

It sounds like your carry concerns could be addressed in a couple of seconds just by clipping it to the front of your back pocket instead of the back of your front pocket, but that is just a suggestion (albeit one that works well for me). An very good suggestion but one that wouldn't work for me un...

Kiwi 4 or Des Horn?

It’s been a few years since I bought a new Spyderco (unthinkable in times past ;) ) and after some deliberation I find myself in the classic dilemma when choosing among such objects – you see one you’re sure you want and then something else comes into view to throw all of your plans into confusion. ...

My old SE Endura ('97 or so) does get an occasional carry but most of the time it rides in the glovebox with a flashlight as backup.

If you wish to contact Spyderco directly about that area on the kick of your Police it may be best to email or call the Warranty/Repair department. Or maybe the vendor you bought it from can exchange it for another one.

I dunno man...my Wildsteer is about as bulletproof as you can get with a folder. The only down side is it's really not an EDC blade. It's too big, too heavy, and the ergonomics aren't the best. If Wildsteer sorts out the ergos and maybe throws some G10 on it, I could probably get around the weight ...

Think of how many people went about their daily work using a knife of one type or another with either no lock or a simple lockback in the days before we had all of the advanced materials and various lock designs that are in use now. Knives were necessary tools. They got used hard and were replaced w...

Exactly. We are trying to apply reason and logic to an unreasonable and illogical situation. If I were headed to NYC I'd drop a 74mm or smaller Victorinox in my pocket, or in a bag if I were carrying one, and call it a day.
