Re: RIP Pacific Salt
Condolences on your lost knife. I just got a Pacific Salt serrated last week. Like you I have sharpened it a couple of times and am impressed. It is a sad thing to lose such a good knife. When si hike steep terrain I tether all pocket essentials to my belt or belt loops: knife, compass, survival kit...

Re: Wharncliffe Endure Serrated = Super Knife
Ah, good point. Thanks for that reminder. I really like the slicey aspect of FFG on my PM2 and PM3 so the Endura WSE sounds like a winner.Doeswhateveraspidercan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 8:44 pm
The Endura In VG10 is FFG the slicing is indeed superior.

Re: Wharncliffe Endure Serrated = Super Knife
Doeswhatever, you are one of the guys on here that convinced me to try out Spyderco’s serrated edge. I have the Salt and a Pacific Salt both in SE to try it with the H1 magic. Some strokes on both sides of a Sharpmaker has moderated the acute points and they now slice more readily. Surprised that th...

Re: What would folding pocket knives look like if Sal never started Spyderco?
That brass knife is quite s find. Looks like it was setup to reside in a shirt pocket next to a pen. Way ahead if it’s time in concept but it’s small size probably limited its popularity. All I remember from the 80s was after Spyderco came out with a hugely successful line of knives most other manuf...

Re: Spyderco multi-tool?
I'm still hoping for a SpydeRench 2; love mine and the only reason it's been replaced by a Leatherman Charge TTI when I need a multi-tool is because it's difficult to find a new one in good shape... https://i.imgur.com/WSTDano.jpg https://i.imgur.com/x3qZJ6Z.jpg I like that format for a multi-tool....

Re: Sal: Can we have another run of the Caspian Salt?
Seems the blade shape and H1 are unique and ideal for a dive knife. Not sure about the big hole in the handle as to how useful that might be. Never considered weight saving a feature for a dive knife since a little weight is helpful for snorkeling and insignificant when scuba diving with lead weight...

That turned out really well, Cambertree! Nice depth of color. I’m going to try another one with a gradient.

Re: is it possible to dye or remove dye from FRN scales
One other thing. I've only dyed FRN scales once, so I'm no expert, but I understand you can get normal RIT dye and RIT dye specially formulated for synthetic fabrics. Obviously the standard stuff works fine, as demonstrated by the many examples shown before on the forum, but it may be the synthetic...

Interchangeable blades is spot on! I like that with the various less common steels.

Re: What would folding pocket knives look like if Sal never started Spyderco?
I don't remember thumbstuds coming along until AFTER Spyderco popularized one hand opening. After many decades of pocket knives without them, I’m pretty sure Spyderco was the first to introduce one hand opening for widely available brand of knives along with the pocket clip. And then they got into t...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Just finished a Blue Denim RIT dye job on my new Salt 2. From another person’s comment in another thread I thought I would dye just the clip end so. Bright yellow handle isn’t popping it’s head out. Not really bashful about my knives but in some gatherings it is better to be subdued than advertising...

Re: Spyderco multi-tool?
Call me crazy but I prefer a more standard form factor. The adjustable wrench was a neat idea but I find actual pliers to be much more useful. The main selling point of a Spyderco tool is the blade, so if they just make a standard layout tool with all the essential bits but then also add a thumb ho...

Re: Spyderco multi-tool?
The ClipiTool is a nice start. But I think Spyderco could do well in the all metal multi-plier segment as well. I don’t think they need a lot of tool models. Maybe a small and larger one. It would be neat to make it easy for the user to replace tools themselves so it could be customized in endless c...

Spyderco multi-tool?
Having recently gotten back into Spyderco knives I really enjoy the quality of build and the variety of designs, steels and blade shapes. I also enjoy seeing that Sal and Eric are so active in the knife community. I notice there are no Spyderco multi-tools. Are there any plans to bring out a line of...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Pacific Salt serrated edge is coming tomorrow. Recently got the Salt 2 SE and so far like it very much. Interested to see how the SE H1 performs in a variety of materials cut. Thought I might as well get the big brother. The Pacific Salt May be my last knife for a few months. I rediscovered Spyderco...

Re: My perfect city combo and my perfect "just-one" blade... show yours
Just my normal EDC of PM2 in S35VN and a SAK Camper or Farmer. I am trying out a Salt 2 SE and Pacific Salt SE as EDC just to see if the Spyder serrations make for a good EDC or not. Saw a tip about dyeing the exposed end of the yellow FRN so it does not stand out so much. So will try using Rite Blu...
