It depends on where you live. No worries about invasiveness here, since no one has yet gotten it to survive the first winter. That's about all I know about it. P.S. Most warm season grasses don't take foot traffic well while they are dormant, so they quickly wear down to bare dirt (or mud depending ...

Have you tried loosening ALL the screws (not just the pivot), wedging the blade over a bit past center, then tightening all the screws before removing the wedge? It may help, but if it doesn't, you can send the knife to me. I probably couldn't fix it either, but it wouldn't bother me to have the bla...

I'll probably have to get two, in case I screw the first one up putting the tip back on it. That may be tricky with the swedge.

I do still have my Moonstone ;) :D

PayPal did get my money back the one time a seller failed to deliver, and that seller had a very good feedback rating, in the 300 range if I recall correctly, until she crashed and burned...right when I won an auction. Then she got six negatives in about a week. In other words, it's a crapshoot ever...

I've been spending a lot of quality time with S90V lately, which is chock full of vanadium carbides that make ZDP-189 look soft by comparison. And while ZDP feels like it is just sliding across the stone, it IS being abraded by the contact, trust me.

A little bit of skateboard tape should take care of that problem. I've also seen where people have textured SS handles on a grinder, making them look something like a flint knife.

I prefer my serrations on a serperate blade, so I carry a Dyad. If I didn't have one, the Byrd Wings would be in my pocket instead. Probably 95% of my cutting gets done with a PE blade, but serrations come in handy once in a while. That doesn't mean often enough to sacrifice any plain edge for, just...

The Leatherman Wave and Crunch both have serrated blades ground on the right side instead of the left side if you would like to try that part out. They are not as aggressive as Spyderco serrations, but they work a little better for me on the rare occasions that I use them.

The last time I saw it, I reformatted my hard drive to make sure I had eliminated all traces of it. Just kidding, but I did purge my IE temp files to make sure it was gone. I didn't want anything that ugly laying around the harddrive. Besides, the seller who had it listed also listed at least one st...

I Didn't take any with the blade open today, and it is dark here now. I did shoot one pic of the lockbar, though. If you would like more detail, I can e-mail the original pictures to you, but they are 1.5 Mb files (3008 x 2000 pixel)

If you really want to try it out, there is at least one model of Swiss Army Knife that has a part serrated blade with the serrations at the tip.

Personally, I prefer my serrations on a seperate blade. I carry a Dyad to have serrations and plain edge on the same knife.

Here is a shot of mine. The gaps between the liners and backspacer can be scaled against the diagonal pocket wear scratches. While the joints are visible, they are not really what I would call gaps.

I'm usually carrying my Krein flatgrind ZDP Endura, along with a few Millies and other odds and ends. Four inch blade is legal limit here, so the Police models have to stay home.

There is a strong possibility that they don't mention the steel type because they don't really know what it is. I believe a great many of Gerber's knives are being made in China out of whatever steel the Chinese think they can get away with. I know the Paraframes I have are marked China and the stee...

Yes, ZDP-189 can and will form a wire edge. In fact, it can be a pain to get rid of that burr. My first sprint run ZDP Delica had a wire edge from the factory. It was literally razor sharp...for about thirty seconds when I started using it at work. That wire edge rolled at first contact with dried m...
