Re: Why carry two?
I always carry a 'beater' knife that I can loan to someone who asks 'do you have a knife?' My primary knife is generally one that I'm not willing to hand to anyone who asks that question.

Re: Am I missing out on S110V?
I've been able to put rust on s90v, but never on s110v. In my mind, the advantage of s110v is for people who require additional stain resistance over what s90v offers.

Re: Griptilian
I sold my Grips and only use the Doug Ritter variant sold through Knifeworks. I prefer the blade shape of it. I also have had better luck with the Hogue ones (I own three) than the old Benchmade version.

I went out and bought a couple of their made in USA knives, just because I've never had one and wanted to check them now.

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?
I agree on most flippers, and especially front flippers. I just can't get into the front flippers, and some flippers are fun, but mostly I end up using them just for that fun factor. And I also agree on the deep carry clips. On some knives I definitely like them, but a lot of work and EDC I want the...

Have you tried the Caly 3?Tristan_david2001 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 8:43 amI would love this model so much better in a back lock and micarta scales. It really is a great edc user for its over all size.
Same ergonomics, with a back lock. The blade is a little longer, though.

Moving from New York to Virginia...sounds like a ton of other knife and gun businesses that have made similar moves in the past decade.

Surprised no one's mentioned the Ritter RSK auto pre-order. 3.4" of Magnacut but G10 instead of carbon fiber this time. $210 https://knifeworks.com/doug-ritter-auto-rsk-knifeworks-exclusive-black-g-10-stonewashed-magnacut-54136/ I preordered that one a while back. It didn't really occur to me ...

Re: MT07 (damascus) replica or real?
I think the steel is technically DPS 15. DPS 15 is a VG-10 core with the Damascus laminated to it. (Spydiewiki: https://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?title=D.P.S._15_Damascus) Spyderco’s Damascus is a laminated fifteen-layer steel with a Suminagashi pattern. The Damascus steel is composed of layers o...

I don't think I've ever seen a Mule that _wasn't_ marked with the steel type. Was the DPS15 mule (MT07) not marked?

The deputy was careful to point out several times that this legal perspective is unique to California, and he added that it's going to get worse because fewer penalties for thieves are being considered favorably by California lawmakers. And Californians wonder why retailers are either (a) locking u...

I'm in. I love the Manix 2 and I love 20cv. I'll probably buy two--one to replace the scales and use, and one to add to my ever growing stack of manix variants.

Re: Help me identify make/model of car used by THIEF
I have long been in the habit of locking the doors. When I was (much) younger, my mother used to call it my 'lock-o-mania'. I would always lock/unlock every door when I walked through it. I've intentionally eased back on that since having children (it was too easy to lock them out of the house becau...

Speaking of Alaska, Coming into the Country by John McPhee. It's a beautiful read. I like his style of writing. Have you read his Encounters with the Archdruid ? One of my friends recommended that one to me a few years back and started me down the rabbithole--I ended up reading most of his books.

Manix XL.
And if you're counting the PM2 as 'large' then the regular Manix, as well.

- Getting the police interested has been problematic. I think there's so much crime this doesn't even register. My experience with police and property crimes is that they basically want the victim to positively identify the perp or fugeddaboudit. I think I am actually doing the police work here, id...

Marginally related; Bolster, where do you live? My parents are on the central coast (near SLO) and I'm wondering if this sort of crime is on the rise in that area. It's pretty disturbing to me that the police don't seem to care. As my parents get older, they are more likely to be vulnerable to that ...

Manix 2 and Dragonfly are my favorites of those options. Also my favorite Spydercos.WilliamMunny wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 6:53 pmManix 2 is probably my favorite Spyderco so far. The Dragonfly is a great small knife, in SE it would cut way above its size.
