Re: There's more than one way to shave a cat...

The other option is what I use on Kiwi, our cat. She's small & doesn't like having her fur shaved at all. It's an ordeal for both of us to be locked in the bathroom, but she gets hair wads & the fur on her backside grows enough that if it gets too long, she gets one hung "in the breach&...

Re: Spyderco saved my life

I don't travel in Mexico any more, too many cartel problems now & nearly everywhere. We're 60 miles north of that border & it's still bad enough with the drug rip-offs, gang killings, home invasions & general mayhem which is nearly on a daily basis. Mexico is worse, because at least here...

Re: Usefulness of Sub-3 Inch Blades?

Try a Delica & get back to us about the small blade's usefulness. It's about a perfect size for smaller stuff & will actually perform like a bigger blade in many cutting chores. For another good "small" blade, try the Dragonfly 2 in ZDP-189 steel. This is simply an amazing knife fo...

Re: Anyone Else Like Mules?

Found an old & unloved superblue Mule at a great price from an old ad listing. It was dull & had a "patina" which was pretty ugly, what a pity. These pictures were posted a year ago, but I do love this knife, so once more can't hurt. http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x331/Tim_Cur...

Re: The .22 Rimfire thread

A little savage 22 long rifle. Restocked, bedded, tweaked & has the threaded muzzle. Nice thing about this one is that it takes the same can as the little Ruger SR22 (a Silencerco Sparrow). Accurate & fun as well. Both very quiet with subsonic ammunition. http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: If Engineers were in charge?

I work in the construction industry as a roof truss estimator. I deal with architects & engineers fairly regularly on roof systems. While some are good at what they do, many lack real-world experience and make decisions based on theory or overly complicated assessments, which would be better if ...

Strop on leather with white compound, but the patina is nice!

Or, send it to me if it's too ugly to use & I'll be glad to take the problem off your hands for you for free.

Re: Why dont companies round off prices???

Funny, we had a pack rat in camp this weekend that did the same thing to a bag of tortillas. Turned my back & it was chewed in a perfect semi-circle. A rat I can understand, a girlfriend, not so much. Had to work around it, but I do like chorizo & eggs for breakfast while camping.... Met a h...

Re: Mirror Polishing s110v

Flitz will remove stains & oxidation, but it's more of a maintenance thing than a polishing compound. To do a true polish, a series of fine & finer grits is used until the "mirror" finish is achieved. The mirror is just a series of scratches too fine for the eye to resolve.

Re: Corn in ancient Egypt?

Egypt was one of the first cultures to have a surplus of grain (corn, wheat, oats, barley or Puffa-puffa rice?). Along with the grain surplus storage came the rats & mice. They found that cats were a pretty good idea around the silo for rodent control. Domestic cats were an offshoot of grain, tr...

I would have to say that your mother chose you as her representative out of love. She knew you would be there for her, as you are now. You will have difficult decisions to make for her. What Michael has said above is a good point of departure. I don't care what you call it, but there are times (like...

Re: Olight? Thoughts?

I like mine. Small, compact, single CR123 which seems to last a long time. I especially like the tail cap magnet, for using it in place to work on things. No problem with the switch yet.
