Re: A Month Without Spyderco: Thoughts & Observations
I’m looking forward to the expansion of Golden so we can see more of these knives made in the US. I see Spyderco taking a different approach to making knives with using various countries as well and it seems to be going well.

Re: Spinal Tap Yojumbo
I’ve never seen a folding lobotomizer before, who knew a had a tactical brain surgical tool. Carbon fiber to boot!

Spinal Tap Yojumbo
It was a toss up between “Spinal Tap” and “Deep in thought” but you can caption your own title in Your post.

Re: Looking for a Self Defense Knife?
In the above situation it was like a quick draw where they knew there was going to be lethal action taken but if you are not a trained peace officer, you can’t just shoot someone running at you with a concealed knife.

Re: Looking for a Self Defense Knife?
Being fit and running away from a SD situation is a good option if you're alone, but it has its limitations. Besides the obvious example of if you happen to be with loved ones, what about if: You have some injury that causes you to be unable to run aa efficiently as normally? What about when you're...

Re: Looking for a Self Defense Knife?
Here's your answer! Such a baaaaaad knife. https://i.postimg.cc/T1gQyHvP/20200321-101435.jpg I have had a couple of these and carried one for a few years and I see them as an amazing organ separator. I think a court might see this as overkill rather than a self defense tool but that won’t matter in...

Re: Polished vs toothy edge for storing sharpness
What is the oxidation rate of carbides to the matrix? Maxamet is famous high in carbides. Perhaps apex gremlins teeth cannot pierce all those carbide nuggets

Re: Polished vs toothy edge for storing sharpness
I now am in the Habit of using chapstick on all my knives thanks to a tip here on the forum and this also helps keep the apex gremlins lips moist and must make their teeth slip off the knife. If I smell Pina Colada or Cherry breath I leave flour all around my knives to see if I can catch their footp...

Polished vs toothy edge for storing sharpness
I have propagated the lore about knives in sock drawers magically becoming less sharp even if I strop them with .5 micron abrasive right before storing them. This led me to putting each knife after use in ziplock bags removing the most air out and that seems to have scared away the dull boogie man. ...

Re: Has Spyderco ever made a Spoon?
The hole needs to be in the middle Would add some indexing and grip but could not be used as a spoon🙃 a 3/4 edge would still be useful as a spoon and could still do most of the functions that you would want from this. I can see a 3/4 edge of the spoon folding “knife” that utilizes the Spydie hole f...

Re: Has Spyderco ever made a Spoon?
I dubbed mine the tac spoon. Sharpened on the flat and it’s not a “knife” but it’s a fun back up car knife. You could sharpen just on one side but if you have a sharpened spoon you only need a fork unless you cut tines in to have a Tactical Spork Knife. Yes, I have thought a lot about this. I do hav...

Re: Subvert Sprint CF/20CV!
Tell me if I’m not thinking of something, but what exactly does the spine whack test do that translates to real world? Seems you’d never actually put pressure on the blade that way unless you are using your other hand to push down on it. In that case there’s not a safety issue, same with batoning i...

Re: Advice on my first Spyderco
I have somewhat narrowed my decision down to getting some type of Para 3, but I am open to suggestions if anyone has an alternative. So I have 2 questions that will help me determine which Para 3 to get. 1. Lightweight or regular? 2. Which steel to choose and why? I am currently thinking about gett...
