Re: Spyderco's sharpening process for ZDP 189?
Interesting thanks guys. I guess it couldn't hurt to strop it with some stropman black and white? Not sure if you would attain a higher level of sharpness by doing so, but it probably wouldn't hurt to do a few strokes and find out. Even though I use the factory edge until it dulls, I much prefer ho...

Re: Heat treatment and processing for ZDP-189
Sal, Thank you for sharing. Good to know Spyderco standard process regarding ZDP :spyder: I guess with steel like ZDP, if regularly maintained and not letting it dull will prolong the time until it requires sharpening. With my light use, the advantage might not be as obvious as heavy user. Let's se...

Re: Spyderco's sharpening process for ZDP 189?
I remember reading something over on BF not long ago stating that the Seki models appear to be sharpened with some sort of medium to low grit belt sander, then power stropped to remove the burr. Take that with a grain of salt though, since I can't remember the exact source :)

Re: HAP40 Dragonfly praise ! Perfect city edc
I'm carrying my HAP40 Dfly today and I have been really enjoying this knife. My only concern is how the SUS410 cladding will hold up over a period of time. I was carrying my SB Stretch the other day and the 420J is now looking awful after 2 years. It's scratched, the laser engravings are disappeari...

Re: Your favorite spyderco that you believe is perfect
I wonder if Sal intentionally designs spydies to be ever so slightly imperfect so that we'll never stop hunting for the perfect model!
For me it would probably be the Delica, although the Dragonfly 2 is a very close second.

Re: Gayle Bradley 2?? Talk me into it..
After owning the knife now for a few weeks it has bumped my PM2 out of my pocket permanently. I dont seem to understand why so many people are having a hard time disengaging the liner lock.. Press slightly down with the PAD of your thumb and gently move sideways. I then use my pointer finger to clo...

Re: Would 204P make the best divers knife?
The pivot I'm sure isn't made out of 204P steel. The term "pivot" can mean that post or pin, or the area. I'm not referring to the post that forms the pivot.....I'm meaning the pivot area. C'mon, this isn't that hard. The point is that that 0.10 of Nitrogen shouldn't make much ...

Re: A Little Disappointed in HAP40
I carry a Leatherman Squirt PS4 in conjunction with whatever folder I'm carrying. Last week I was trying to cut a moderately thick zip tie with my Military CRUWEAR and was getting nowhere. I pulled out my PS4 and snipped it in about 2 seconds. Wire cutters are definitely the way to go.

Re: Military and Paramilitary: Point Strength?
Plenty of videos out there of people using PM2 in an almost bushcraft sort of way. It's not a pry bar and shouldn't be one, one can add an inexpensive pry tool to their key chain if that's a priority. Would you want a really stabby gun that doesn't shoot so well? What situations would one need a th...

Re: Poll: Solid back-spacers vs. stand-offs
Generally speaking, as others have said, it depends on the knife. However, the first PM2 I owned got a small chip in the edge because I was carrying it tip up in my pocket with my keys. I have since removed my keys from my front pocket, but I still find myself a little more cautious with knives that...

Re: HAP40 Dragonfly
mine is starting show the first signs of wear. a little blade play is developing (forward and back, not side to side). nothing major, but there is a noticeable tiny shift when pressure is applied (the other 3 dragonflys i have don't do this), does not hurt the functionality of knife. I've owned 4 o...

Re: G10 vs frn vs frcp
This is a tough call. I don't have any experience with FRCP, but I was kind of turned off to it after reading a review of the Manix LW that said it feels like holding a lego. I appreciate the lightweight factor of FRN, and also really like the bi-directional texturing. At the same time, I also like ...
