Looks more like a burnt tip from powered grinding.

If this is the case does it make the steel weaker? Thanks.

Corrosion or grind lines?

Hello I just received a new dagger made from s30v and noticed that it was pristine except at the very tip. Is this some sort of machine mark or corrosion? I have tried wd40 and elbow grease to no avail.

The Endela.

I’m thinking about getting an Endela for destroying boxes at work, do you guys like this model or should I just get another Endura (traded my last one). Thanks.

Re: Screw Maintenance

In regards to loctite if I ever use it should I give the screws a wipe down with anything in particular before applying it?

Re: Screw Maintenance

Thanks everyone I think I’m overthinking this, yeah it’s the now discontinued K390 so I’m at a crossroads in regards to continue using it or putting it away for collection reasons.

Screw Maintenance

Hey everyone another newbie question, I use my police 4 quite a lot now and it’s been covered in sweat and water but I’m always sure to wipe it down and use tuff cloth. My question is what are the screws holding it together made from is it some kind is stainless steel? Should I take it apart and coa...

Newbie steel question.

Hello everyone just a newbie question about steels. Would steel like 1095, 01, A2 be tougher than say S3OV and S35vn? If properly heat treated is stainless steel tough? Thanks.

What’s with the humps?

I’m new to spyderco and have a delica an Endura and a police 4. I’ve noticed they all seem to have a reinforced tip, is there a reason they needed to do this on these models? I still love them but I think a military is next.

Tuff cloth and black blade coating.

Hey everyone I’ve used marine tuf cloth to wipe over all of my black coated blades and I just checked on them in the safe and they are a bit grey streaky instead of a deep black. I think the residual oil from the tuff cloth has made them a bit discoloured and I am wondering if wiping it with some wd...

Storing fixed blades in nylon sheaths.

Hey everyone I have stored fixed blades wiped with tuff glide in kydex sheaths for long periods of time with no corrosion issues, I know leather is a different story and can corrode but what about nylon?

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Slicing garlic with the police 4, a bit overkill but it definitely did the job! Also hoping for more interesting patina patterns to show up.

Patina question.

Hello a question regarding the magnificent Police 4 k390. I have used it for a little while and it has gotten a nice rainbow patina. I want to retire it to the safe and use my delica instead. My question is I usually add tuff cloth to blades in the safe just for the added corrosion protection but wo...

This rainbow patina has also formed in one day of work though it did get some sweat on it.
