I have been on 50% salary for 4 years and prices of everything have been rocketing so that for the last year I wasn't even covering basic bills. Since then I have got myself a better-paying job but times are still hard and I can feel that people are sitting on any money they have and are less likely...

I love the Squeak. The spine of the blade is a little thick for some things. I need to cut some stuff near the tip because the width of the blade at the base will end up pulling things apart and ripping or breaking it in the process. Good point - it is a bit thick for such a small blade - perhaps i...

I'd certainly prefer to be treated like a grown-up and allowed the choice of whether to carry a locker or a slippie. But in reality I can hardly think of the last time when I actually would have benefited from a lock on a folder, and it's nearly always in those unusual jobs where you need to use it ...

I carried my Endura all over France, Spain, and Italy on a month long vacation with no issues. Was I lucky?? This was four years ago. I spent all of Sept. 2011 in South Africa, carried my Endura and packed a Sog fixed blade. No problems there either. In urban areas I didn't use the clip, I just dro...

I think it's really just down to personal preference because the Urban and Squeak are identical in legal terms. I think I'd pack a Squeak because it is an excellent knife and is cheap (no great loss) if you ever get into a situation where it gets confiscated. Normally though you should find that the...

Germany is still reeling from the cost of reunification with the East ... there is very little sentiment in the voting public to spend yet more billions to shore up a country which is perceived to be riddled with corruption. That said, German industry does well from having weak countries in the Euro...

Read an interesting article the other day explaining that Germany actually likes being in a fairly weak Euro because if they had their own currency it would be valued far higher and that would make their exports more expensive and less in demand. I have been wondering why all of the Euro countries a...

Slipjoints ... I just don't get what the fuss is all about. They've been around for decades and I love em ... even if I could EDC a locker (and I totally understand why you might want a locker for some jobs) I'd probably still EDC slipjoints because they're so easy to use. Open it ... do the cut ......

In terms of blade function (not lock or handle material), how does the Lightweight Manix compare to (say) the Tenacious? The blade length seems similar and the metals are both fairly entry-level steels. I've always liked the look of the blue Manix but just haven't been able to justify buying one whe...

It looks lovely to me (I've always loved Deviant's styling) and I'd certainly get one if the price isn't too high (so far that's the only reason I haven't bought one of his blades), just for some EDC variation, but I do prefer normal slipits for practicality. The only disadvantage of Friction Folder...

I believe that each individual knife gets some hand-fitting, so if it worked and looked right while assembled, I would say it was purposeful - but I don't know for certain what standards may be found on the rock lobster. +1 I am sure I have heard Sal say that knives are often hand finished so I thi...
