Thank for clearing all of this up for us Mike! It is not uncommon for American made goods to use Metric fasteners. My American made cars are a good example.

The Stretch is my 3rd favorite spyderco behind the Delica and Endura as Deacon said the ergos are beter than the other 2 but, I prefer the Delica Endura they carry better for me in the pocket. They have a slightly slimmer profile I feel. The Stretch would make a great knife for your intended use. IM...

I would say the old standby VG10 since the majority of spydercos use this steel. I know it is not very Geewiz but it is the spyderco benchmark standard steel.
