I would recommend Blade Tech. If the quality of the clips that Spyderco is currently stocking is suspect and you have to pay out-of-pocket anyway, go with a proven product. Cheers.

From what I understand, the same contract shop has been making the Delica and Endura since their inception. Think about that. All of the millions of these knives out there in the wild and they ALL came from the same little shop in Seki. So as a matter of honoring that little shop, there's no way Sal...

The dragonfly still sports this travesy, and has since it's introduction. Junk. Nothing else can be said. Why they still produce this is a mystery. Many knives were infected with this virus. The Walker lightweight was one. I have one that needs (you guessed it) a clip. I was under the impression tha...

The Spyderco Story is out on paperback and available from Paladin Press at a fairly good price (compared to the old hardcover price). The early history of Spyderco is very well covered in this book and the photos are awesome. Leaves the reader hanging around '99-2000 but that's print media for ya. O...

Yeah, the Endura Wave is the only Spyderco where I HOTLY disagree with Sal's choice of grind. (To a lesser extent I disagree with Szasbo's grind on the Szasbofly but that's not entirely Spyderco's call like the Endura Wave was). Unbelieveable that Spyderco would give the Endura Wave such a clunky sa...

I have an old one too and I refuse to believe they're selling for anywhere near three crisp ones. A fellow could buy two Civilians, a full tank of gas and stop off for an apple pie and coffee on the way home for that kind of money. Where have you been seeing those prices??

Since a Spyderbook Vol II seems to be out of the question, I think an annual mag (like Glock puts out) is a splendid idea. The project would at least break even and may even show a modest profit, especially if professional writers were employed. The likes of Mas Ayoob, Steven Dick, Sheriff Wilson, M...

If you're gonna be in the area I'd say it's worth it to visit. But if you've gotta go out of your way (even a little bit) I'd say it's not worth it. I visited SFO back about '04 or so, when they were still operating out of that little strip mall. It was a joke. I'm from Virginia so I'm accustomed to...

I had never heard of Mad Men until Rush Limbaugh mentioned the series in passing one day on his radio show. Since Rush has never steered me wrong on entertainment avenues (Sopranos, Passion of the Christ movie, etc), I immediately went to itunes and downloaded season one. Glad I did. What a series! ...

Looks like we still don't get our splinter-picker tip back, but I will say it's a little less blunt than the previous generation. Kind of a happy medium, almost. Love the rebuildableness (is that a word?) of these Gen4 Delicas. Makes for an almost unlimited world of variations. Once you figure out h...

How many White Castle burgers can you eat?

I've never been to a White Castle but I'm developing an expensive addiction to the boxed version that's available at Walmart. You get six of these little darlings in a box and they're microwaveable. Problem is, six isn't enough. In fact, I don't know if twelve would be enough.... So, those of ...

You guys are right. "Junk" was an extremely poor choice of words. To put it another way, there's a LOT of blade steels I'd choose before I'd choose 440V. Why anyone would actually want this blade steel over say, s30V is totally beyond me. It's gotta be extremely expensive to manufacture in...

The wave feature works basically like clockwork. If you use it as it was intended, that is. Right pocket, forward opening, whatever. It's amazing how well the wave opener works. Spyderco really did some testing on this model. Sweet knife. I admit I haven't used it for daily tasks, but I actually car...

Good luck with it. If you get the very early stuff (produced before the article) you'll have something you can actually sharpen (with diamond rods).
