Re: Secondary Niche For Fish Hunter: Kayak Litter Pickup

Very nice of you :) Been using the Caspian to remove old fish nets and crayfish baskets from the sea floor when diving and freediving. They keep catching fish, crabs and lobsters for years after they have been lost or abandoned

Re: Spyderco Saw?

I've been thinking about a ideal version of the Clipitool for use in the Boundary Waters that would match a thin Sprig-like blade with a short saw (maybe adding a second more robust blade for wood work) and came to wonder if Spyderco had ever made a saw blade before? Obviously, the serrated edge bl...

Re: Techno vs Techno 2

Have you had any issues with the lock face since you mention it as a negative? Both my Technos lock up perfectly with no issues what so ever even after years of use..

I agree on many of your other points, but don't really see the issue about the lock.

Nothing wrong with Vg-10, even ikea kitchen knives are VG-10.
Just their premium ones, the rest are "stainless steel" :D

The clip could be better, but it is a very nice knife. I think they overproduced sprints of it for a while and sales were slow afaik.

Small: C22 CF Michael Walker Medium: Slysz Bowie (SpydieChef for better seawater resistance) Large: CF Military Fixed: Currently that would be a Caspian Salt since that is the only fixed blade Spyderco I use regularly (diving and freediving), the ones I use normally are customs. I'd miss my Pacific ...

Re: Sal: any chance of a Spyderco Straight Razor?

I shave with one at times, usually I use a DE. H1 might be a good idea, but it is a niche market and I'd be afraid it would be a money loss for Spyderco..

I don't think i could get used to the flipper tab interfering with the lock. Nice knife apart from that!
Since it has a decent size hole you can grind off the flipper ;) I did that with my Domino :D

Re: Sharpening: Do you touch up every day, or use until a full sharpening is needed?

I touch them up when they no longer have a satisfying edge. That depends a bit on the type of knife and what I'm doing. Sometimes it isn't practical to touch it up and then I end up having to do a proper sharpening.

Re: PPT CF Sprint - liner material?

Ti liners wouldn't make much of a weight difference on the PPT unless you also changed that chunky steel backspacer as well. I'd think the best bet for weight reduction would be changing the backspacer to CF or using standoffs. The PPT would have been one of my favorites if it wasn't so dang heavy....

Re: Shipping of internal parts

Shipping of internal parts There has been some discussion and fair amount of frustration on the question of Spyderco choosing not to ship internal parts. The subject is far more complicated than it might appear on the surface. Some of the questions that come up probably need to be explored and as u...

I prefer both my C22 Walker in CF and my Technos to the Leafstorm. It is a nice knife, but I never really got along with it. Still think it is in its box somewhere

Re: Bad experience from Customer Service

Spyderco does label a returned knife as a warranty repair so there should be no issues with customs on it going back to Sweden. Afaik they have very little stock of parts for the non US knives in Golden. This might have changed though..

Re: Where is the new, improved Advocate?

Why didn't you just return it? They did fix the issue for everyone who did... I guess I was impatient. I bought it right after it was released. It had the same "bumpiness" that my Mantra had and I was frustrated that the Advocate wasn't any better. Fair enough, but your impatience wasn't ...

Re: Where is the new, improved Advocate?

Hey, ABX2001: I'm not clear on how it's misleading. The information provided is fact. It's pretty simple. The original washer/bearing design was poor. The fact that a small fraction of the production was returned to you doesn't mean that the others weren't affected. They were all affected. Some of ...
