Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!

Hi Weeping Minora, Thanx for the effort. Considering the "other thread" on upping the price, keep in mind that the more expensive steels are more expensive to buy and work. sal Thanks, sal. Roger that. I appreciate the consideration for discussion and will share your sentiment within the ...

Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations

Hello all, sal has informed via the: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?! thread, that the maker of the Calypso Jr has found the bi-directional fish scale FRN tooling, and that they can produce a Sprint Run of the model. I'm here to ask, what are your thoughts and preferences regarding what you'd ...

Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!

Hi Weeping Minora, Me too. Right now we're working with the maker to see where it can go. They are a small maker and move more slowly. Just found out they still have the tooling for a Calyso Jr with the fish scale bi-directional texture, and they can make a Sprint run of same. We can change color a...

Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!

I'd be up for a SPY27/Cobalt Blue FRN, a CRUWEAR/Gray FRN, or even a ZDP/British Racing Green FRN Caly Jr Sprint. Of course, all three (eventually) would be fantastic! Undoubtedly a HAP40/Burnt Orange FRN would be in the mix somewhere. Even a V-Tofu/Gray-Blue FRN Sprint would be great. Perhaps get A...

Re: Upping the price.

Last year, effective January 2023, Spyderco raised the MSRP of almost all knives except for the Japanese-made knives. This year, effective February 2024, all street prices (MAP) of knives went up 7% due to MAP being reduced to 25% off MSRP from 30%. There really shouldn’t have been any price increa...

I saw that and got confused that it was released the 7th, whether that meant.. that release ones or others. No, I didn't think. Thanks for making me look like an idiot man!😉 Thanks for the answer also. You did just join the forum, so welcome aboard! I see the confusion, as Kristi posted that thread ...

Hi Mike! I'm Mike! Hahaha. I appreciate the introduction! Pretty new to Spyderco stuff, got a Sage 1 in Maxamet® (don't sue me cartech! Ha) a while ago and turned me onto you guys. I'll say that I like your heat treatments and appreciate how you guys actually will experiment with very uncommon allo...

Re: T15 Testing and Pondering About CATRA (BESS Data Included)

Good work and much thanx for your efforts, Ken. I noticed and reported that T15 holds its front-end sharpness exceptionally well; better than any other steel of its caliber that I have experience with. 15V is up there (at least with Shawn's HT), though I don't have as much experience-to-date. T15 be...

Re: Poll: Any Interest for Hitachi White MULE?!

Hi Weeping Minora, That's why we didn't invest in the steel when it was requested earlier. We can make any steel that you want to test, taste, try, but there has to be enough of you to help us pay the bill. I think that the Mule Team afi's are thinking in terms of, will this be a steel I'd want to ...

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange

I’m just not a fan of companies covering user error under warranty. In my life, fishing gear has taken the biggest hit. We’ve seen the prices of decent fly rods and bass rods skyrocket in recent years because companies have started implementing these extravagant warranties in order to compete with ...

Re: Upping the price.

When a Presidents spends $4 Trillion in less than two years it causes terrible inflation. And first year business major who has taken economics knows that. Again, the cost of quality knives has dropped dramatically over the last decade while the cost of Spyderco has only increased. Inflation is a c...

.... as you can see, i gravitate more toward stainless and salt steels. i prefer maintenance free steels over steels i have to worry about rusting. i do want to try it though. it seems like k390 patinas instead of just rusting. I am not a fan of most knife vids at all, but this one I liked and it c...
