I just received 2 new samples.

sal
Hi sal,

Thanks for sharing.

Would these happen to be variants of the Sage 5 LW, or perhaps brand new iterations :open-grin?

Re: Building a Custom Knife for Sal: CPM S60V

Agreed; thank you Shawn. This really puts into a different perspective on why the prices of knives are what they are, and especially so at a custom level. I'm looking forward to what sal thinks of this S60V sample, and also with what you're doing with the 19C27 heat-treat. Cheers brother :clinking-m...

Re: UKPK Magnacut?

I read something that they were going to use SPY27 on the Endura line. Which would be awesome Where did you get this information ? I like the idea but strange Delica and Endela are not included ? MG2 sal mentioned this ~2 years ago regarding upcoming variants of the Stretch 2 XL. sal also mentioned...

I don't recall interacting with you over on Blade Forums, Jason. Doesn't necessarily mean we haven't, but I take no offense to any misunderstanding that we may have had. My posts could be criticized for incomplete information, but I never post false information to the best of my understanding. I'm n...

Re: Which Past Mule Teams Would You Like to See Repeated?

I put in for Maxamet and S45VN. Taichung is doing an excellent heat-treatment of Maxamet. I'd be really stoked for the opportunity to pick up and use a nice piece of Maxamet in a fixed blade, at a decent price. This would make a killer comparison piece up against a REX 121 Mule. I'd also like a piec...

Re: Native Scout?

I for one really hope the 3.5" Native comes to pass and I'd certainly buy it. Saying there is no place for a Native this size between the Native 5 and Chief is surely the same as saying there is no place for the PM2 between the Para 3 and the Military? Dan I think much dissention towards this ...

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?

The Stretch 2 XL is a great knife, too, but I feel the Military 2 is in a class above the S2XL. The S2XL is not a knife that you can push as hard as you can the M2, and not just because of the handle material, or construction otherwise. We can reference the FRN handled version since you brought up ...

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?

This may be controversial, but I think the Military 2 is currently the quintessential Spyderco, representing its current design language. Sorry Boomers ;) Agreed. Completely subjective, but to me it then would rather be the Stretch XL LW: In some aspects pretty similar to the Millie 2 designwise, b...

Native Chief, both G-10 and LW variants would be my Native-family choice. Of course, I'd like to see the Native 5 included for those who favor that size range.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

I have ukpk in spy27 on the way after theoretically overcoming my bias against non-locking knives. We’ll see how it works out in practice. The UKPK spring is so nice, it really doesn't lack any inspiring confidence that a lock could add, IMO. All around, it's up there as one of the best knives that...

Re: Visualizing the Tradeoff of Higher Hardness

I’d much rather have toughness than edge retention personally. A rolled edge is annoying but easier for a beginner sharpener to fix than a chip It's not only easier for a beginner to fix a roll than a chip, this is true in almost all cases. In general, if you don't mind using very heavy duty edge g...

Re: UKPK Magnacut?

I thought you already had a SPY27 PK, Doc? The SPY27 variant is a permanent companion for me. Eagerly awaiting this variant, along with the "shadow revealed" G-10 SPY27 variant. Not yet. The exchange rate is really terrible. I have BD1N and S110V versions. I do have SPY27 in a Manix 2 LW....

Hi Clint, Welcome to our forum. I made the decision not to publish Rc decades ago, simply to avoid argument. There are many people that have their own opinion on Rc or limited understanding about how the hardness fits into the cutting edge puzzle. I believe much of that has been mentioned here. It'...
