Ok.. so it would seem that if it is practicle and legal to carry a bigger blade.. then, in general, it would be a preferable option to carry the bigger blade. Now, in relation to Spydies..there are only a hand full of options that have a blade length of 4" or greater. Not that these options (ch...

Sword and Shield brought up a good point and lead me to a new question.. The point in case is using an old welding glove .. look around and see what you can use before dropping 50$ on "fancy" Russian leather to strop your blades. If your going to use the stroping paste or a compound, howev...

well first off.. as mentione before.. if you end up being "shanked" you either are an officer that didnt follow procedure.. or your an inmate.. hopefully no one here will end up as the latter. In any scenerio that involves an edged weapon the first step to survival is to rememer YOU ARE GO...

maby im slow but what is the actuall question or discussion here?? Is it the pro's and con's? ...is it to look to your local ex-con to learn how to defend ones self? Ive had some training in blade defence as a officer in corrections and would be happy to share my insight from 3yrs in lockdown if I k...

if its an anniversary knife... why not simply bring back an early series but with some of the modernised inprovements.. I remember the first Spydie i ever saw had somthing to the effect of a "sheeps foot"style blade with serrations. Maby Bring back that run with a combination of the above ...

Mundele, There are alot of different rubbing compounds and stroping pastes out there .. you might try using one with a 1000 grit and lighten your blade pressure when you strop. Plus try putting the pastes on the cardboard and placing the cardboard on a hard surface (as opposed to leaving it attached...

Great news ! Thank you Clay for filling me in here. I actually was not much of a fan of the Street bowie design as it was. Too small, too slick, and I kinda felt that the steel was probably pretty cheap since Szabonic never listed too much on what steel was used (Ibelieve i saw 440 SS somewhere)...T...

Whats your edge secrete???

Just for general chit chat... whats your lil "thing" that you do you your knives that gives them that razor edge? Me, I use a peice of carboard like the back of a spiral notebook or the flap off a cardboard box.. and I strop the edge on the cardboard. This gives you a highly polished edge ...

This is a hard one... I am allways full of ideas..."what if this....what if that...why dont they..." you know how it is.... as for #1) Id remake the Chanook with S.S. handle similar to the police or maby more like the civilian.. and then elongate the blade a little and remove some from the...

my recomendation to you is 1)wright your city hall and ask specifically for city ordanance on the legal limits and/or restrictions of carrying knives...this prevents you from violating city ordanance yet staying with in the usually more 'loose' state laws.. also by wrighting you get a reply in wrigh...

Just a couple of questions that this thread brought to mind.... I dont mean to sway the topic. Lsaulog mentioned that the Military seems to be more a heavy duty knife... I was wondering does it have a thicker blade? What is it that makes it seem more heavy duty than the Police. Second, Do the knives...
