Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient

I would pay more for the Taiwan manufacturing, but mostly because they wouldn't be limited to Chinese steels. I like the Bow River just fine and think the China makers could handle the craftsmanship aspect. Perhaps one of the designs in China, one in Taiwan?Either way, very excited about the Claycom...

Yeah, this is the one I'm most curious about given Larrin and Bluntcut's test.

Re: Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight Video "Reveal"

I enjoyed the para 3 and sage 5 LW's so much that I can't see not grabbing one of these. Small knife, big handle (and comp lock) all day.

Re: Sheaths styles and positions

I'll either make or buy a "dangler" belt loop for the stock boltaron sheath to solve this problem. Cold Steel does that with their kydex sheaths. I want to be able to wear the knife on my waist below a hiking pack's padded belt. The g-clip is nice otherwise.

Re: Scales with lanyard hole?

In addition to the 3d print models created by forum members (and to drilling your own scales), Hazy Design Studios does mule scales with lanyard holes.

Thanks for posting, I've watched several of your tests on your own knives but this is the first I've seen on a Spyderco!

Interesting stuff! I wonder if there's a type of epoxy that would work with HPDE? The contrasting color layers would look nice once shaped.

Bumping this! How hard does Spyderco typically run their M4 (and Cruwear, and Z-wear?)

Re: CPM REX 76, CPM REX T15, AND M398 and MT2!

If I'm reading right, that trademark seems to date all the way back to 1903. Rex is latin for King, they probably thought that was pretty slick marketing at the turn of the century!

Re: subway bowie!

I got at first very excited about it, but putting it side-by-side with the Ark shows that the handle is super short. I would really love to see an EDC fixed blade (thin, lightweight, FRN) and Spyderco has all the relevant parts, but it should allow for a normal grip. Ark is a lovely knife, but I wi...

Oh yes! What a good surprise. The REX 76 blurb says it can be treated to 68-70 RC, I wonder how hard they'll treat those mules??

Re: any whittlers out there?

I also picked carving up over the past year. I think a Wharncliffe isn't the best blade shape for carving - you'll get more versatility from a knife with some belly to it. For example, in softer wood, you can use a leaf-style blade to dig out a spoon bowl without having to use a hook knife. I can't ...

Pastel (green, purple, blue, etc) FRN and some sort of high carbide carbon steel. I like the regular leaf-shape blade.
Pastels = take my money. I like the idea of a tool steel as well, someone mentioned 3V earlier in this thread.

Re: FRN Texturing likes and dislikes

The hexagon pattern on the Sage 5 LW is visually lovely, but it grabs my pocket stitching and fabric as much as g10 does. The angled bi-directional block pattern on the Delica/Endura and Para 3 LW is easier on my pants.

Yep, I like this idea. I often wish that my Spyderco's had a less-pronounced relief area where the index finger rests behind the blade. More meat there would be great.

Re: Clip not holding on slick-scaled delica

If the Lynch clip doesn't clear it up, I think you're on to something with the grip tape idea. They do make non-abrasive grip tape.
