Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?

I think Shawn suggested to make the Manix LW the new Mule/special steel folder before. It's a good design and affordable platform. My only gripe with the model is that it comes with a pinned construction.

I would love a Para 3 in 15V. The PM2 and Para 3 sprint models seem to sell the best.

Maybe a mod could clean this thread from all the off topic political talk?

There is an off topic forum for this BS.

Re: China and tariffs

I'll admit, I'm a bit confused here. Sal seems to only be asking about the effect the steel tariffs will have on interest in knives made in China. However, if I understand the situation correctly, the 25% tariff is on steel from pretty much everywhere except Australia, South Korea, Argentina, and B...

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?

I'm stuck with my work currently. I need to sell lower alloy steels (which I also LOVE btw) so I can purchase belts to continue my research. These high Vanadium steels need very sharp ceramic grains to be cut. Otherwise it just creates heat from friction/rubbing. I'm using an entry level grinder a ...

Re: China and tariffs

And i assume these issues are holding up the 2019 catalog. Because Spyderco is awfully silent about when we will get that.

Re: China and tariffs

Aha, OK. Thanks. So are there new tariffs on stuff being made in Europe also -- or is the price of LC200N just going up for one reason or other independent of all that. Trump hit European steel with tariffs too (steel 25% and aluminium 10%). That has been plenty in the media over here. Though this ...

Re: China and tariffs

You'll have to pass on the extra costs on to the Americans or move production.
But i don't want to see a world wide price increase so that the rest of the world is subsidizing the increased costs for the US market.

Re: 2019 Knife Plans

It's gonna depend on the 2019 catalog. (when are we going to get it?)
But a Cruwear Shaman sprint is high on the wishlist. Other than that i'll try to keep up with the Para 3 sprints.

Re: New Model Dropped: Calypso Jr. Super Blue sprint run (PICS)

I never felt i needed extra grip on my Spyderco handles. Even the Para 3 with smooth G10 is perfect to me and easier to keep clean. But i like the different patterns for their artistic value.

But the grip is pretty good on it. But it also depends on the pressure you put on it and how you hold it.

Re: Flicking Spydies with the index finger

Mostly middle finger flicking, it's just so natural and easy for me. My lock backs are smaller so thumb on them. I can spydie flick them, but it's not very practical and does not have 100% succes rate. How the **** do you index finger flick? It gives you bad grip on the knife and the finger tends to...

Re: REX 45 Military In Stock!

Maybe I'm missing something with this over sharpening thing but I believe what you guys are seeing is the difference in how blades are sharpened. The edge used to go all the way to the plunge line but apparently the robots can't get that close so you sometimes see a small bit if blade that has no b...

Re: Kapara vs. PM2 - Box cutting.

Better handle shape on the PM2.
And maybe it's like with wood that a thicker blade helps push aside the stuff you cut so the edge can keep going. I guess the Kapara is creating too much drag.

Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives

Had the same with my REX45 Para 3. Pencil lead would fix it only for a very short time. It got better when when i turned the lock pin a bit. Lock stick wasn't gone completely even after that though. But i don't know if it was due to use (haven't used it much) or the knife acclimatized or whatever, b...

What is superblue equivalent to? A steel I could relate to maybe?

Something about the words; “Blue and “Super” being used together sounds exciting! Haha
It's a very high carbon steel, to which they added a little chromium for hardenability and tungsten/vanadium for wear resistance.

Re: REX 45 Military In Stock!

Might just be a bad example on that BentoBox store page. My 204P military is fine. I got the REX45 military in the mail, i'll check it out when it gets here. Should be soon. One thing i did notice when comparing my knives is that my REX45 PM2 has a worse grind along the plunge line than all my other...
