Rescue and Salt I come immediately to mind, esp. the Salt - that H1 is pretty wicked stuff in SE. I've always preferred my smaller blades (< 3") to be SE and my larger blades (>3") to be PE - just my personal preference, however, as I feel the SE adds to the overall cutting power of the s...

it just occurred to me, that it might be a function of the sharpening angle, Kershaw uses a pretty steep angle but not as steep I believe spyderco. So when using the Lasky sharpening system you may actually be putting a new microlevel on the edge rather than re-sharpening the entire existing edge. t...

try a lighter touch as light as possible while maintaining proper angle. I'm still working on this.

I think this is a legitimate issue, I have a large one of the largest brick-and-mortar knife shops near my house plaza cutlery in South Coast Plaza Southern California. I try to buy from them whenever they offer a spyderco at a decent price, which is rarely in their markdown area. Or something sough...

what are the best spiders to go fully serrated

I currently have a collection of just shy of 30 knives about half of them are spyderco, 80% folders with some small neck knives and one larger fixed blade a cold steel sisu. I've had a few serrated blades in the past a micarta Calypso Jr. Which I traded a baby Wayne Goddard which I lost. paramilitar...

I am by no means a steel expert. also but I have two thoughts to add until somebody with real experience comes on. One is that supposedly harder steals can be sharpened with a much smaller burr production which means with a very precise sharpening you can theoretically get a sharper edge because as ...

debris in the lock mechanism, is by far the leading cause of walk failure and lock backs. It doesn't look like there's anything in your mechanism. but I would look at this very closely, get a toothpick and clean it out, give it a good dab of oil open and close a couple times as far as possible, clea...

any news or thoughts on a non-frn h-1 folder

I am interested, in h-1 my have held out so far, I'm not a huge fan of frn the least in terms of the current models available. A firm version of the Delica possibly with titanium liner's would be good, a titanium line Frn Calypso Jr. would be better. Optimally would be g-10 ocelot like folder this t...

the tip is not very strong at all, is meant to be strictly a self-defense tool of last resort, the tip is meant to last for one or two devastating cuts. I am being absolutely serious is not meant to be a work tool at all. As for whether it is strong enough to do job it is meant for I assume it is we...
