Re: Sage 5 Lightweight

I was going to get a Para 3 LW to hold me over, but the PE sold out on the SFO before I could get one. My thinking was that I'd get the Para 3 LW to hold me over, because I didn't think we'd get the Sage 5 LW this year. Now, with it likely to be here by September, I'm probably just going to wait for...

Re: Poll for Possible Folding Mule - Model Preference

My Preference: I'd buy any of the five except for a Manix. I'd prefer the thinner blade and lower ramp of the upcoming Sage 5 LW to the Para 3 LW. I'd be happier with the Chaparral LW than a Delica, because my fingers are a bit cramped on the Delica, but I can use the choil on the Chap, and I like t...

Re: Endela vs Caly 3.5

The choil is not worth the extra cost as I rarely use them. However, the Stretch and Endela have different design functions, as I stated earlier. Yeah, you wrote that. Yes, Spyderco says the Stretch 2 is the latest evolution of the C03 Hunter. But, is there something so specialized about the Stretc...

Re: Which steel is closest to what is used in German Kitchen Knives??

Being a butcher all knives used lately are high carbon steel that are made to wear. I have two knives I use at home and one is half the blade of the other due to use. Most people I show can not believe they are the same knife. Steel a lot and sharpen a little bit. As mentioned above most folding kn...

Re: Endela vs Caly 3.5

Let's see... computer jockey segment knife user has been growing for years and continues to do so ... hunter segment knife user has been dwindling for years and continues to do so ... easy to see who wins this one. CG Unless the computer jockeys realize that the Stretch 2 blade shape is still great...

Re: Endela: New Nr. 1 recommendation for a first / only / basic / good-value folder?

With my apologies to Sal, I'm not impressed with the Byrd back locks, even at the price. That's one area where Spyderco's competitors are doing better than they are. The Endela will probably be popular because it's a just right size between the Endura and Delica. Personally, I'd rather spend $15 mor...

Re: Which steel is closest to what is used in German Kitchen Knives??

W-Nr 1.4116, AKA 4116, is the same as X50CrMoV15. Here's a comparison graph of 4116 and AEB-L -- http://zknives.com/knives/steels/steelgraph.php?nm=1.4116%20%2CAEB-L&ni=,878&hrn=1&gm=0. Cold Steel has quite a few folders with 4116 blades now. I suppose you cold get one of those, along wi...

Re: Ganzo knives...Spyderco/BM clone

This is an interesting one. Clearly the Ganzo model in question is basically a Para 2 with an Axis type lock. But, Ganzo calls that lock the G Lock, and although the Axis Lock name is trademarked, the associated patents are expired. Likewise, the Spyderco opening hole's patents are expired, but the ...

Maybe get a D'Allara 3 before they're gone for good. I suspect that they'll be pretty hard to find in the not too distant future.

Re: Am I missing something?

The compression lock is much stronger than a liner lock. S30V has higher corrosion resistance, and much longer edge retention, than 8Cr13MoV. The increased edge retention (AKA wear resistance) of S30V means it's going to be harder to grind than a basic steel like 8Cr13. S30V also requires a more com...

Re: Asking for help, for a second time!

I'm with the others, get the red G10 handle exclusive while you can. S110V will have better edge retention, but S30V is still a darn good steel. G10 and S30V is a better overall package than S110V and FRN, IMO.

Re: Consistent edc

I recently sold off a few knives, and I haven't really bought anything else. I carry a Sage 2. I love it. I have a few other knives that are not legal to carry where I live, but they have sentimental value. I won't ever sell them, but they also won't get carried a lot. I don't think I'll be adding ...

Re: Will there ever be

I still want a Slysz Bowie Salt, or Sage 2 or 5 Salt, with a Vanax blade. I'd settle for a Native 5 "Super Salt" with a bright green handle and Vanax blade.

Re: Spyderco's Upcoming New Folder? Stretch Lc200N with FRN Navy Blue Scales?

I like the thought of Hi-Vis green for the LC200N Seki Salts. I'm not sure Eric and the crew will do dark blue for anything besides the FRN or FRCP S110V Golden models. Your idea for the Stretch is interesting though. Midnight blue is the color choice for the upcoming k390 police 4 frn I think it's...

The Gayle Bradley 2, Advocate and another knife... can't think which one, are production knives in M4. But your right, I don't believe there's any others in M390 or 20CV The disco'ed Mantra 1 and 2? Will there ever be a production run on knives in steels like M390, 20CV or M4? M390 or 20CV? Probabl...
