Re: H1 Edge Test
A quick update: It was a nice day outside and I decided to go out and enjoy the nice day and carve a little cube of scrap wood I found. About three hours later, my hands gave out before the edge did. I even went so far as to push the knife through the little block to get the corners off by splitting...

Re: H1 Edge Test
I've talked to a couple guys who had theirs reground into FFG and say they saw no difference. That could just be that the edge of the blade wasn't ground enough. I think the edge retention thing is valid when compared to other steels but I don't think that makes it horrible. A Miata is still loads ...

Re: H1 Edge Test
Sorry guys, couldn't update yesterday because it turned into a six hour round trip to pick up family. I didn't end up using my knife for anything except a couple wrappers, so there was still no loss of sharpness from the edge. So far today, I've broken down a few packages, and nothing has had any de...

H1 Edge Test
Hello all, About a week ago I asked you all if the edge retention was as bad as everyone makes it sound and from the results of that thread, picked up a PE Dragonfly Salt. I also decided that with this knife, I was going to make a thread documenting the knife's edge retention day by day to see how i...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..
Just finished my first rit dye and I'm super happy! Brand new yellow native 5 salt. Was going for black. I checked it after about 1 minute and it looked like this. Thought it looked very cool! https://i.imgur.com/6OaQnWD.jpg Very good job! I think this color should be a standard offering. Is that a...

What's your favorite Spyderco that's a little bit of a "hidden gem?"
Everyone knows about the PM2, the Manix, the Delica, etc. But what's your favorite Spyderco to carry that not many people talk about?

What's the one that got away?
Do you guys have any knives or variants that you wanted so badly, but couldn't ever get your hands on them? What were they?

Re: H1
Whenever it gets here (probably about a week or a little more, it takes forever for things to get shipped up here), I'll start a thread documenting how it does with factory edge, then after sharpening. I'll try to put it through a little bit of rough stuff too just to see for science, but I won't tr...

Re: H1
I decided I'm going to pull the trigger on a PE Dragonfly Salt today. When it gets here, would you guys be interested in me doing a post documenting how the edge of the H1 wears during my day to day life like tonijedi's post?

Re: H1
For anyone interested, this article explains it well: http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2009/11/19/2746568.htm . To sum it up, the addition of nickel messes with the arrangement of the iron atoms in the steel's structure in such a way that their individual mini magnetic fields end up cancelling...

Re: Mule Team
A Para 3 LW mule would still allow people to test new steels in folder-specific tasks without having to spend $150-200 or more for the flagship G10 models. Then they would know if they really want to drop $200 on the next Military exclusive in a new exotic steel. The Para 3 is still a relatively in...

The Native Salt is in LC200N I believe.VG10 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 10:47 pmNever had H1 before.steelcity16 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 9:40 pmI would get the new Native Salt or track down an M4 Linerless G10 Native on eBay. Bladeheadquarters ran those as an exclusive earlier in the year. Or maybe the soon to be released Para 3 Lightweight in BDN1?

Re: H1
In the past, I've read posts by some who stated that "H1 is not really a steel." That's not true; H1 is definitely a steel. Magnets stick to it. Interestingly, there are stainless steels, apparently called austenitic steels, that magnets won't stick to. I encountered it on a friend's refr...

Re: Kind way PM2 on Amazon
First time I've seen one of these on Amazon! Comes up when I did a search of Paramilitary 2! The horror  :( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L8FCD86/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Z43TCbD3H70H0 James The review on that listing makes me sad that people are willing to support those crooks knowing that they're...

Never again. i've never even had to adjust my pacific or native salt in the ocean. sorry you lost your tasman. :( It's a bummer. I really don't know how it came lose, I'm not the strongest swimmer so it...

Re: H1
I have a few Dragonflies in different steels, and it's my most used Spyderco model overall. I don't have the PE H1 version, but I can say the H1 SE Salt is an amazing little knife. It made a SE convert of me. As D says above, just pair it with a Sharpmaker and you're all set. If you're on the water...

I just want to say how blown away I am with this community and how kind and civil you all are. I just happened upon this forum today after shopping around for my first nice knife and wanted some input on which steel to get a Dragonfly 2 in ( https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83582 )...

My opinion on PE H1 is in this topic: https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83361 For basic EDC it is more than enough for me. That was a great read. It was nice to see some actual real-life testing instead of someone just saying "the edge dulls so fast I had to sharpen it three t...
