Re: BHQ with a hap40 Lum Tanto exclusive?

Received mine - aftermarket. It was smooth at first, and then the grinding started. As I lubed up the detent - I noticed it seems really prominent. Is it possible that the detent ball is prominent and not fully seated - causing both the grinding sound, as well as the off-centered blade (excess press...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

I bought a Streetbeat from Knife Center for $149 when they were closing them out and feel I got an incredible deal! $107 would have been a ridiculous price! The micarta version is a really nice knife! It was on my list to purchase, but they disappeared before I got around to it. Now I really want o...

Hey foofie,
Did they correctly sent the micarta version?
Nope. I had never held a street beat before and now I really want a micarta handled one.

To be followed soon by sleep deprivation brain. Lasts only about 5 years.

Re: Shipping of internal parts

I am a huge fan of CQI - but I think one downside (that I readily accept) is the availability of parts. Need a new stop pin for your miltary? Sure - but is that before or after CQI? What about all the other incremental changes along the way? Will the current part be completely backwards compatible? ...

Re: Southfork or Sprig sprint?

Just wondering - both Southfork and Sprig were made in Taichung. Two questions: 1) Has there ever been a sprint (as opposed to a distributor exclusive) of a Taichung knife? Thinking of the orange positron for the latter. 2) Has Taichung ever used any k390? I know they used 10v with the K2 so at lea...

Re: How does the peel ply carbon fiber wear on the Sage series?

I have separated the CF and G10 layers...

with lots of sand paper and elbow grease. I went through a polished/shiny scales phase, and by the time I got the cf/g10 composite shiny, all the CF was gone.

I would love to see a sprint Southfork - maxamet sounds great, but any A11 would be fine as well. And grind it a bit thinner...

Re: USA made models,...

I think that some people confuse "cost" and "value." In terms of relative utility (how much I use the knife, and how much easier/better it makes my life) the best "value" I've received from Spyderco have been my Sprig and Manix 2 LW Maxamet, neither of which are low &q...

I saw a guy on BladeForums (I think he's in Poland) who swears by the stuff, but I've never held a blade made from it in real life.

Any feedback on how it performs?
I saw that, and I wish I had some. That's why we need a mule in s390!

Re: More Urban Sprints Please

I would vote for a new urban in a new steel - Bohler s390. Make it a true mule. m390 would make me happy as well, just not a new steel. 14C28 would actually match (my) use of the urban pretty well - light use, long retention of that sharp edge at the expense of a working edge that lasts forever. I r...

Re: If you could pick one discontinued knife to turn into a sprint..

I placed my vote on page 1... and after six pages there are only a small handful of repeats. It's a good thing the inmates don't run this asylum, or Spyderco would never reach consensus and release anything ;) Knife design aside, I don't think I realized how intensely personal steel choice and scale...

Re: Mantra 3 mixed feelings

I like the knife. If Spyderco will make a sprint with some interesting for me steel, possibly I will buy. S30v is a good steel, but I have plenty of S30V/S35Vn/S90V & S110V. I agree. Just commenting that s90v and s110v are suddenly mundane as well  Oddly enough, I will buy partly because I...

Re: Spyderco Knives at 2018 SHOT Show with Eric Glesser

I have a Darrin Sanders custom that is hands down my most used fixed blade. Combine that with my respect (sorry for the pun) for Jim Ankerson, and their bowie is at the top of my list. I also really like my 4v mule, even though nobody ever seems to talk about theirs. The Smock collab has a few desig...

Re: Sliverax Mod round 2 / CQI suggestion

I shortened my flipper tab, but I have to say that my Sliverax still flips open easily and consistently. I have not noticed any loss of leverage. I also chamfered and contoured the tab a bit so it doesn't poke me in pocket - and it still flips open easily. This is with no change to the detent - so p...
