Re: Now's the time: For a New Hawkbill!!!
Byrd hawkbill showed up today. It kicked the Tasman straight out of the front right pocket; well after I sharpened it a bit. Speaking of sharpening, this Chinese steel is very easy to sharpen. The only thing I used to bring it up to par was a spyderco sharpmaker fine stone at the proper angle. It to...

Not my type of music, but they sound good. Lead singer is easy on the eyes too. Love the wink right off the gitgo.Essayforme wrote:https://youtu.be/RWoQ9PN1HWw

Re: Recommendation: companion fixed blade for piggy back
Option 2: Bark River Featherweight Fox River - is the blade sturdy enough for carving? The handle suggests this is designed as a slicer I would recommend this. I carry one every day. Mines in elmax. It is sooo pretty. How’s the thinner stock against what you use it on? Ive been loving it. I have no...

Re: Now's the time: For a New Hawkbill!!!
I just hope you get a Spyderedged model because I'm 1000% convinced that Spyderedged Hawkbills perform about 8 times better than a plain edged Hawkbill does. Hawkbills and Reverse S blades both do considerably better in Spyderedge>> there's not even one reason to debate that either. Well Brother ke...

Re: sharpening H1 serrated
I would think the Dremel is what's removing any burr, not the Sharpmaker. I do it the other way around, I sharpen on the Sharpmaker then buff with the Dremel. I don't know if anything is work hardening but it sure gets sharp. I too use the sharpmarker first. I realize I didn't mention it. Sometimes...

It's more of a pressure thing than a friction one?Ric wrote:I think for work hardening you need more force than a cotton wheel.

I am probably wrong, but spyderco sells to niche. A byrd line of fixed blades would be selling to mass market.

Re: No love for the Lil Native?
The lil native also looks a million times more comfortable than the dragonfly. on the latter it's always felt like someone cut off part of the grip for my ring and middle fingers, like something is missing right there. It's filled in on most all their other designs...lil native, native, chap, caly ...

Re: Calling all Canadians - Canadian knife discussion
If Sal were to make a Canadian knife, what would you think or like it to be? Let's start discussing it. I don't know what model it would be, but how about red with a small maple leaf carved in the handle? I'm thinking a 3" blade. The new Canadian knife would be 1.25" blade length, 4"...

sharpening H1 serrated
I know there has already been a few threads about this topic, but I want to make this very specific. Tonight I was sharpening my Tasman with a dremel, cotton wheels, and diamond compound. I started to think that maybe buffing at high speeds helps to harden H1 even more. Ive read that other go as slo...

Re: 30 Day Fixed Blade Challenge...
I'm in on this. I recently purchased a Bark River featherweight Fox River in elmax. I know, it's long wondering, but it's an amazing little knife. I'm on about day 3. My companion carry is a modified Tasman. Everything I need with those two.

Re: Spyderco Caribbean Salt Questions
The real question is who likes the Carribean scales?? While I havent seen them in person yet, I have to say they arent exciting me at all. I am holding out hope that we will see a translucent Yellow G10 (see photos) in some Golden-made LC200N salt models. Like a PM2, Native, Para 3, Millie, Shaman,...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
ozarksource.com has 15% off (the promo code is KNIFE15) their "final clearance" Spyderco knives, which are already at 40% or more off MAP. Plus free shipping and no tax (except for MO and MI). So that ends up being a pretty good deal vs. the new MAP pricing. They have 163 Spyderco models ...

Re: Companion hawkbill
Tasman all the way. I carry a PE para2 and Tasman. The para2 is so unused it's stupid. I was the biggest skeptic, but H1 se hawkbill is where it's at for general pull cuts.
