Since both the Civilian and Matriarch have a serrated edge I would choose serrated. I have also cut my finger on serration just from brushing the edge. Think of the differance when cutting bread or meat with a plain blade verses a serrated blade. The serrated make quicker work of the bread and meat....

Well, about nine years back I was at the Kansas State Fair, I was 11. There just so happened to be a Spyderco display booth with someone sharpening knives, for free of course, with the Spyderco sharpener. It is a little strange but I get more people asking about my mutitool, I carry it in a pouch on my belt. Than I do about my SS Native with its shinny clip that I carry in my front right pocket. In fact no one has ever asked about my Native II and I don't cover it up! Ehh, supposed to be Thorin... : )

A belt pouch for the SpydeRench would be great... Then I could carry two Spydercos and drop my Schrade mulitool.
