Re: Where is the Urban Coyote?

I got my shipping notification from National Knives and canceled my Knife Center preorder. I'm really looking forward to this release and I hope we'll see more steel options available in the Urban.

Re: Has to be discussed: Military or Chief?

Personally, I wish I could carry something larger than 3.5" legally. I've got a couple of Endura's and Military's that I'd like to carry more often, but I usually don't due to the law. I'll take them camping/backpacking and use them around the house, but that's about it.

Very neat! I've always wanted to try an emerson opener and I think this is the perfect opportunity to give it a shot.

Miss you boo bear! Crap, just teared up a little. :o :)
Beautiful story, brought tears to my eyes too.

Mine is a little simpler. My name is Shane and I used to live in Denver, though now I live in Arvada. Maybe ShaneInCO makes more sense? I think I'll just stick with it.

Re: Suggestion: everyone should design a knife

I've been playing around with making fixed blades in my garage, mainly kitchen knives. I start with a design I like and modify it using drafting paper, transfer the design to wood to get a feel for ergonomics and size. I don't have many tools, I built a Gough jig, 2 brick forge, I've got a Harbor Fr...

I don't think Google allows hosting images to be posted on other sites, imgur is a good resource for hosting pictures to post on forums.

I would like a full flat grind blade, a saw and an awl, similar to the Victorinox Bushcrafter.

Re: Sharpmaker for beginner or hold out for Gauntlet?

zhyla was playing around with 3d printed block that holds the Spyderco rods and is playing around with adjustable angles. If you do print that design and play with it I'd love to know the results.

With the Sharpmaker rods, you can always turn it into a guided angle sharpener.

Re: V-TOKU 2 Love

This Endura came from the factory second sale this year, you can see the really rough grind lines and the missing bug logo. I ground the spine down to match the Enudra 3 blade profile and reprofiled it to 30 degrees using the sharpmaker and the diamond rods. The patina is from cutting up food, mostl...

Re: Best Spyderco folder for winter hike

I prefer the Manix 2 LW for hiking. I was using the S110V version, but I just picked up the Maxamet version at the factory second scale that I plan on using this summer.

Re: Show your mods!

I grabbed this factory second Endura and the SFO sale this year and decided to take the spine down to make the tip pointer. You can see the very course grind and missing bug logo from this one. I'm not sure what to do about the blade finish, I can feel it drag when cutting through cardboard. https:/...

I'm not very hip on flashlights, but I've been using a Streamlight Microstream for about a year now and I would recommend it, especially for the price. I use the Harbor Freight coupon for a constant free supply of AAA batteries. http://www.hfqpdb.com/coupons/24_FREE_24_PACK_HEAVY_DUTY_BATTERIES_1539...
