Why do people think less of things that cost less? I'm pretty sure that FRN is one of the best overall handle materials on the market. Not quite as flashy as steel and g-10 but it works every bit as good.

Edit: It actually works far better in a lot of my usage.

Welcome to the forum! I'm no veteran Spyderco fan, but I would suggest an Endura, Native, or Military. Three classic designs by Sal :)

Anyone have some Thoughts on the BBS Blue/S90V Military?

I just got my military, and have been loving it so far. I like it so much that I might have to get another flavor, and was wondering if anyone has the Bento Box Shop Blue/S90V version. I'm really liking the looks of the blue scales and I would LOVE to have an S90V folder. I'm thinking it could be my...

Thanks for the replies, guys! So far Im liking it for 3 main reasons: 1. Blade appears smaller (as does the handle) due to the flat black color 2. The looks, as Surfingringo said, is a nice change of pace and style 3. It should increase the overall durability of the knife, turning a proven workhorse...

DLC Coating Opinions?

I recently got my first DLC Spydie, a Military, and so far I like the coating. I haven't used it enough yet to make any real valid conclusions, so I was just wondering what the general concensus is around here. Do you guys like DLC? Do you guys dislike it? Feel free to talk on any points such as dur...

Yeah nccole, the Panef brand penetrating graphite oil I have is designed for locks, gears, chains, tools etc. I have not used Nano Oil however, so I can't speak on it in comparison.

I prefer to use graphite oil on certain knives, its a dry film lube with a near-permanent waterproof bond. It's working pretty well for me.

I'm pretty sure pinned construction doesn't make any difference in thinness or thickness. You use whatever length pins or screws you need for the particular design. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

I definitely need these. Cost is of no concern, I'm going to get a pair. All the sharpmaker was missing is these, at least for me. Now can be used for my microbeveler, maintanence, and a perfect traveling sharpening kit.

So far I'm really liking it. Definitely glad I found a DLC model on the exchange. The coating will only add to the overall durability and longevity of the blade, so in combination with rest of the knife is just another practical feature :D I also like that the all-black coloration makes the knife se...

I only have a Native as well, but can echo what has been said above about the very solid feel. I think that because the Native is such a minimalist design as far as number of parts goes, the pinned construction makes a lot of sense. Just makes it even more simple and reliable. Heck, even the pocket ...

I just got a Byrd Meadowlark 2 G-10 on saturday, using it as my work/beater knife is the plan. I actually do like it, it's everything I could ask for for $36. I will agree that I can definitely notice a difference between it and the rest of my spydies, but it works, its smooth, came with an uneven y...
