Re: Triangle rods vs new Profile Stones as travel sharpeners
I rarely need to sharpen on the go, but when I do it is normally for plain edges. I then carry DMT Diafolds (C & F), and a short round ceramic rod. I like the Profile stones as freehand stones in the sharpening arsenal. I bought the originals before they were discontinued many years ago. They ar...

Re: Knifejoy Exclusive...Slysz Bowie??!!
Same here. I handled the original, and did not particularly like the wide blade with upswept belly. The whole design left me a bit underwhelmed to be honest, even though the execution and materials were nice. Different strokes for different folks.

Alox Bantam... This is my dad's favourite knife over the last 2+ decades, because it fits inside his coin pocket. Old skool pants used to have that hidden coin pocket inside/under the waistband.

Re: new coating coming!
My main criteria for a coating is durability, and DLC shines in this regard. If the new coatings are less durable than DLC, I'll probably steer clear.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
My concerns are this though: The Z-cut I owned broke through the centre of the Spydiehole… cutting a potato on a plastic cutting board! Although the stock is 0.2mm thicker on the Charisma, it’s hole is significantly bigger than the Z-cut. This area WILL be a point of weakness on this knife. I hones...

Re: The Magnacut Paramilitary 2
I agree, an uncoated stop pin makes complete sense to me for reliable and consistent lockup. No surface layer to wear off over time and change the lock tolerance. On some of my other PM2’s I’ve seen occasional light stop pin corrosion over the years. I’ve seen similar reports from other people too. ...
