Re: Visualizing the Tradeoff of Higher Hardness

@Larrin What I am trying to find out is - if I worked for a beef packing company and was cutting beef, how many feet of material can a reasonably high wear resistance steel plain edge knife with a 20 degree to 24 degree edge, EFFORTLESSLY CUT IN FEET, and does TCC tell us this information? I realize...

Re: Visualizing the Tradeoff of Higher Hardness

When the graph says Total Cards Cut in mm, I am not sure how to visualize that. The stack of cards cut has a height in mm? I'm making an assumption here that is what the chart is showing. But the stack of cards to be cut has a width too...is it 2cm to 4cm? So the stack cut is for example, "500...

Re: Visualizing the Tradeoff of Higher Hardness

Hi Steeltoes, Was if finished? Did you use it? sal Sal, I'll just make ya one and you can test it. I thought that I would ask you. You have had time around Larrin's equipment. When the graph says Total Cards Cut in mm, I am not sure how to visualize that. The stack of cards cut has a height in mm? ...

Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now

This is another reason why people need to get smarter and think for themselves, instead of jumping on whichever manipulative, divisive bandwagon echoes their own confirmation biases. But most people probably won't be willing or able to, because when getting all up in their emotions, the vast majori...

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

Maybe knee strikes will be the next thing to be banned in UFC MMA fights. These are NOT street fights, and if you look at the rules, there is already a lot that has been banned. Back 10+ years ago when I was wracking my brain about how to decisively win street fights I download rules for fighting re...

Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now

According to Microsoft, some countries have already begun using AI to sow division and antagonize.

China tests US voter fault lines and ramps AI content to boost its geopolitical interests.

Re: What are ya drinkin????

I like the thread on drinking but I slowed my roll during the Winter. Now Summer is here and I am sure that I'll find my way to the liquor store! I usually drink 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 4 cups of Lipton Green Tea, 3 cups of Lipton black tea, and 1 to 2 cups of Dunkin coffee every da...

Re: Visualizing the Tradeoff of Higher Hardness

I posted this on Bladeforums a few days ago but I thought some of you might be interested in this as well. Many thanks to Larrin for doing all the hard work of testing steels and providing this data to the public. I just wanted to compile some of it in a different way. This graph shows the effect o...

Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now

I've written three novels that deal with AI out of control or the misuse of AI. I am not comforted by the technology, especially considering the kinds of people involved in their programming. I wanted to see where the artificial intel systems were on the political spectrum so I asked questions to t...

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?

For Spyderco the Endura/Delica series is a good representation. I would lean to the PM2 though because it has the clip, the spidie hole, and the compression lock. So three Spyderco innovations on the same knife. For Porsche there can only be one. https://canepa.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/917-01...

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?

Interesting. I was just thinking that there are so many models. I was curious which one was THE one. My analogy would be when you think of Porsche, you think of a 911 even though there are many great models. If that makes sense. I admit I'm biased but if you thinking Porsche Design, look no further...

Re: Secret Backdoor Found in Major Linux Distros

This is really a huge deal. Over a 3 year period, a group of talented programmers (probably employed by Russia or China) plotted to get into a position where they could insert complex code into open source projects to undermine the security of millions of people and corporations globally. They got c...

Forgive me for not whipping out my cell phone to take a picture, but every day for the last year or longer my every day carry has been one or more knives, and always includes a Spyderco Native Chief in S90V.

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

Where to start? Decent video. I'm uncomfortable following guys like football player Aaron Rogers or Joe Rogan because they are known for drug use or the legalization of drugs. I have my reasons for my position, you do whatever you will with them. I look at Joe Rogan as a one time small player in UF...
