Just a thought, but what would I lose in quality with the Tenacious other than steel? Since it's a FFG, black, & a little shorter than the Endura, I'm thinking it could be an option. The Tenacious is great value and I quite like the steel (I have deliberately never cleaned my Byrd Crossbill; it...

I have an irrational dislike of FRN and non-screw-together construction. However, I love my Endura -sabre ground VG10 with wave-opener. It fees very solid and I think the screw-together build and steel liners give an impression quality. The sabre grind blade is chunky but the steel liners help keep ...

Matriarch or Civilian? (or Spyderhawk in H1!)

I have been hankering after a Civilian for ages (I like "screw-togther" Spydercos with G10 or CF handles.) One of the things putting me off is the thin-tip warning. The Matriarch is described as having a thicker tip (although both blades are 3mm at their thickest.) In the recent Matriarch ...

Spyderco Bushcraft second -mini review.

I ordered one of the seconds and left it to settle a few months. The cracks were almost invisible by that stage. I've sealed the handle with multiple layers of cyanoacrylate (polymerised with linseed oil) and polished it up. It's a very durable finish. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i10/xavierdoc...

If you need a sheath in a hurry, I have a spare pouch sheath for a Mule that you can have. If you'd like it, PM me your address and I'll stick it in the post.
You're a good man, Pete. I've PM'd you on BritishBlades about the sheath. Many thanks.

Yep, great stuff. Wondering why you haven't put the ZDP blade to tougher use??? :D I could, I just don't want to ;) The handle on the s35v is very nicely done, have you done any sheaths for these knives? No, I'm using spare sheaths that happen to fit. Think I might do a kydex home for the CPM-S35v....

Part 3

Part 3: Meanwhile, back at the ranch... A heavily pregnant mare had jumped into her manger (mad animal!). The girls who run the livery were reluctant to get her to jump out in case she hurt herself. We ended up taking one end of the manger off. This required abuse of lots of tools, including my mule...

Part 2: WARNING GORE!

Part 2... Food prep: The blade shape and edge excel at food prep so long as the guard is shortened (it still impinges on the cutting board in some situations): http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i10/xavierdoc/DSCF5638.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i10/xavierdoc/DSCF5640.jpg Hunting: Two fallo...

Mule test: ZDP189 and CPMS35V- Beware some gore!

So far I only have two of Spyderco's Project Mule knives. I guess most people on this forum will know about the mules. For those not in the know, the Mule Team Project was started to allow knife afficionados to compare various steels using a standard blade shape. The blades are covered by Spyderco's...

I hated to laugh at your suffering--well, at least part of the laughter was relief that I didn't do it. How close was the.308 fit? The .38 is a bit tight. The blade was made by me -it's not a mule. Unlike the brass rivets, the cartridge case is purely decorative so I bored a hole into each scale an...

Cartridge case idea

It's a good idea and works well. I did the same on the first knife I made from scratch. The cases were .308 and had been saved from when I shot my first (and second) deer. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i10/xavierdoc/knifeandspoonandsheath.jpg A word of warning: I thought it would look better usi...
