Re: Your First Spyderco in 2021 !!!!!
I own a Chapparal and a Native 5 and I prefer the former. My first Spyderco of 2021 is a Manix LW in SPY 27! I just ordered today. 1/11, so it will be a while.

I’m sure that’s the right moral! I can’t think of a better one. I could sure use more good news and good cheer right now. It’s been a tough year!

Re: How Do Your Factory Seconds Look?
I bought a Manix with the G10 that looks like wood burl and the S90 V blade with black DLC a year ago. The scale had a void in it. Ugly. Otherwise functional. I put black aluminum aftermarket scales on it and it’s one of my favorite Spydies.

Lost and Found (on Christmas Eve)
I lost one of my favorite Spydies in September. I had it in my possession in the morning and during the day. I was returning from a trip to Colorado and my daughter’s wedding. During the trip my wife was injured and had a short hospital stay. Needless to say I was more than a little tired when I got...

Re: This is devotion...
Cathartt work pants have plenty of deep pockets and a fabric that seems very durable. I only have one pair but so far so good. The pockets are deep enough for a Millie no problem. I suspect that G10 would shred anything given enough use. I sand my G10 lightly to prevent excessive fabric wear when I ...

Re: 2020 Spyderco Factory Seconds Sale
Only time I went there was snow on the ground outside and it was around (just below) freezing and at least 80° inside. I stood in line for hours outside. Then again inside for maybe an hour. Totally worth it. I think the way they’re doing it this year could be the future. I would prefer this format....

Re: I Have a Problem
My first Spydie was a Manix 2 LW with the blue FRCP scales. Many knives later I haven’t bought one since a Smock last year, but that’s the longest period of time without a Spydie purchase in years. I think there’s a Shaman in my future. However there’s a Michael Walker I am looking for too! I too ha...

Re: Let's talk pocket wear...
My first thought is a thin leather flap that would fold over and fasten to the part of the pocket normally clipped to. It has to withstand washing. Could be a useful aftermarket accessory? It mist be thin enough not to make clipping difficult. sal If that piece of leather were held tightly in place...

I heartily endorse the above suggestion. I don’t have any Flitz but “Bar-Keepers Friend” I got and it works great.

Re: Proposal for next SpyderByte: Road to a Collaboration Knife
I would like to hear from the designer and from Spyderco especially Kevin Smock and Ed Schempp. Hearing both perspectives would be the most interesting to me. I’m sure there is some give and take though I have the impression that Spyderco strives to implement the design as faithfully as possible. Pe...

Re: Are sprint runs too small?
I’m satisfied that my concerns about this topic are being addressed by Spyderco after reading sal’s comments. Namely larger numbers of the Sprint runs. The exclusives are what they are. I’m sure those selling exclusives have a good idea what their market is and those numbers are between them and Spy...

Re: Crucible 60 NiTiNOL
Nitinol has some very special properties. Including changing shape when reheated. Even at temps as low as 98°. That’s why it’s used in cardiac stents. Might be a problem in a knife blade? Search Wikipedia for more info. (Sorry I couldn’t figure how to paste a link)

More wire clips. A Michael Walker (C 22), Shaman in S 90 V, Military in SPY 27 or S 45 VN. A sprint run of the Smock in an upgraded steel.
