Re: Maintaining a maintenace-free Siren
As far as caring for the Siren. I bring mine in every afternoon covered in salt and fish blood and never even bother rinsing with fresh water. At most I give it a swirl in seawater to rinse most of the blood off and throw it in the sink when I get home to wait for the next mornings duties. Your’s is...

Re: Maintaining a maintenace-free Siren
H1 is 100% rust resistant, and really near 100% rust proof. And as we talk LC200N, how close is it to H1? :winking-tongue H1 is more rust proof but the two are close enough that it’s really difficult to observe any practical differences in common use. On a scale of 1-10, if H1 is a 10 then steels l...

Re: It’s time for a Police LW Salt!!
I’m far less interested in this idea than I was when I started the thread. For me the Stretch 2 XL is everything I wanted in a Police Salt and more. And sounds like the Stretch XL is slated to get the Salt treatment no? If so, I would take that over the police salt for sure. Sometimes my tastes chan...

I have never been interested in wharncliffes until I saw it in the little Native.
I have never been interested in the little Native until I saw it in a wharncliffe.
That knife is made for that blade shape! I don’t buy many new pocket knives these days but I’ll buy one of those.

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?
I think some of it is about availability. The knife market can be very trendy so when things are hot, they’re hot and when they’re not they’re not. Also, when a model is hot it has to stay relevant and remain in the public conversation to stay hot. When the Kapara came out everyone was raving about ...

Hi Sal--- Seems to be some chatter on SOL (stripersonline) re: the Caspian. https://www.stripersonline.com/surftalk/topic/861954-knives-for-fishing/#comment-17623252 It appears that Spyderco relies heavily on reputation word of mouth for sales impetus. Advertising can be expensive, but I can't help...

Atlantic Salt. Assist handle is too bulky for me.

Welcome back! Stretch XL is indeed one of the best designs in the entire lineup. I seem to recall someone sounding the alert on that a couple of years ago.

Re: Fat guy problem: I keep losing knives when they're clipped to my pocket
Another vote for trying back pocket carry. Works well with large tip down knives like the Military. I agree with the sugar/lifestyle comments too. Nobody is saying those things to be rude though. I had to hear that 25 years ago from a couple of people. I didn’t like the way it sounded so I made some...

Re: Toughness vs Edge Retention vs Corrosion Resistance: What do you prioritize the most?
Corrosion Resistance Toughness Edge Retention In that order. Honestly though, toughness and edge retention are similar in importance. I’m looking for a balance between the two. A soft steel can be extremely tough but not have the edge retention to make a functional knife blade. Conversely a steel ca...

Re: Rebuilding your collection from scratch
Siren
Waterway
Serrated Pacific Salt
Those three meet all my needs. Everything else is in the “want” category.
A few wants I would likely acquire are…
Manix LW in some exotic steel
Stretch 2 XL (ideally a salt version)
Millie 1 in some exotic steel

Re: How Often Do You ‘Spydieflick’ ?
Almost never. Usually a few times when I get a new Spydie, just to check the action, but almost never after that. A lot of my use is on a kayak where there’s no one to impress with my ninja skills and a dropped knife often equals a lost knife. But I still find it satisfying every now and again on dr...

Re: Waterway in Magnacut?
I think there are already some lc200n Waterways waiting on sheaths. I don’t know anymore than anyone else here about plans for future steels but my guess would be that any new steels, handle colors etc would depend largely on how the upcoming batch of waterways sell. I’d imagine that would apply to ...

Overlooked? https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/kk28/yablanowitz/0726221948b_2.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds My personal opinion is that most people don't "get it". It is a relatively old design, so it isn't "New and Exciting". It has what I believe to be the ...
