I would have no problem if Spyderco ended up making 100 more or so. I would have no problem if Spyderco made one more...as long as I could buy it. ;) I came late to the site today for the one sprint run that sold out. I didn't think that would happen. On one hand, I'm glad it did, as it will hopefu...

I saw that last night. Just caught a glimpse, so I may be wrong, but I thought it was a Military or Paramilitary - it looked to have a black blade and flat grind.

Ask yourself this: if they had accidentally charged you twice for one knife, would you have had the same "oh, well" reaction as you did when they accidentally gave you two knives for the price of one? Most people would be quite upset in the first scenario, but quite pleased with the second...

Deacon, thanks for the info regarding the inlays - not having handled any of the options I mentioned, I assumed they were like the Stretch.

I don't recall ever having heard an explanation for why they have this policy. I've always assumed that it is because they don't want to encroach on their dealer network by hosting an alternate selling venue. There's that reason, plus whenever you have buying and selling, there is inevitable fricti...

Advice on disco'd model needed, please

Some time ago, I gifted an original Stretch to one my best friends. He really liked it, and is now a Spydie fan. Recently, he mentioned his father-in-law really admires the Stretch, and would like something similar, but a little smaller. Upon investigation, it seems the SS handle/Kraton is what he l...

Colonel,

I'm sorry, but I'm not quite sure what you mean...please be more expressive in future posts. :D

With that said, I had no interest in the Spyderhawk until seeing that photo. I will probably add one to the carry rotation.

When you say your daily operations "kill knives," do you mean destroy the edge, or some crucial part of the knife, such as the locking mechanism? If you are referring to the edge, try something in H1 with a serrated edge. Serrated H1 exhibits a high degree of hardness on the edge. If you l...

Oh, I just thought of one I did not like!!! The Dyad. Any flavor or size. In JDSpydo's absence, I must rise to defend the Dyad's honor! :D The full-size Dyad has it all: PE blade with a thin, splinter-picker tip; SE sheepsfoot blade to handle all the things the other blade can't. Nice black micarta...

OK, sorry for the delay. Have both right in front of me know. The Temperance's blade is a bit thicker than that of the Aqua Salt. The handle shape is very similar on both, though the Temp's is, again, thicker and has the indexing divots. Both have seen similar use, but the Aqua shows more scratches ...

I must be the local Spyderco contrarian, judging by this thread. I like the Lum designs, except the Chinese Folder. I like the look of the folding Lum tantos, though I've never held one. I think the fixed blade Lum tanto is easily the most beautiful Spyderco knife ever made. I like the Native, and c...

Don't have either of them in front of me at the moment, but I think of the Aqua Salt as a slightly-smaller version of the Temperance. I'll compare blade length and handle size more specifically sometime this evening. I may attempt a comparison photo, but compared to some of the talent on this board,...

If your budget can stretch just a bit, I'd suggest an Aqua Salt. I use mine for many of the scenarios you mention.

Carrying two knives not only has the advantage of different edge types (PE and SE), but also different blade sizes (think Cricket and Military) or styles (think Tasman and Atlantic Salt).

Hmmm, that's pretty much status quo isn't it? And that's the problem. Whether it is a "problem" is certainly a matter of definition and debate. Personally, I would consider it a problem if Spyderco announced a release date for a particular model, ran into unavoidable production delays, th...

I would suggest everyone who ordered from that site to check your email - I just got notice that due to an error in the payment processing software, my order was deemed "incomplete" and canceled. I went back to the site to re-order, and the item I ordered is gone. I emailed asking if I can...

I liked those Mokis so much, I bought the set. :D Large PE, large SE - Model 920, if memory serves; small PE, small SE (Model 921, I believe). Found them all at different places, ranging from the clearance section of a mail-order catalog several years ago, to the bay (picking up the last of the four...
