Re: Anyone Here Like Punk Music?
Another Dead Kennedys fan here. Some more obscure stuff: Mutiny: Melbourne folk punk, kinda like The Pogues, but Aussie. Roosters: Japanese punk band from Fukuoka. I was told in Japan, that the singer was also in the Yakuza. The Dreadnoughts: Canadian band from Vancouver who cut their teeth playing ...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
Fantastic news. VG10 is fine by me - it’s great in both SE and PE.
I’m not really fussed about colours, but considering the SD angle, what about a blue jeans coloured G10?

Re: Do y'all know where to get custom wood scales made?
I actually have a Koa wood handled Dragonfly, which Cuscadi made for me about 5 or 6 years ago. It’s an FRN model. https://i.imgur.com/amrIaVn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cgSU5iD.jpg The scales were drilled with a round hole at the pivot, rather than a D-shaped hole. I ended up having to glue the female...

Re: Looking for Custom Scales for Dragonfly 2
Oh, poop. Why do I get the feeling that simply asking Spyderco to release Dragonfly 2 ZDP189 w/ an elegant design on the SS handle is not going to work? Maybe search out the Nishijin model then, as previously mentioned. Or the HAP40 Pakkawood, which is a stunning Dragonfly variant, and still curren...

Sal asks for discussion and suggestions on future Japanese steels from time to time, and YXR7 is often mentioned along with others.
I’d personally be interested to see one of those Japanese matrix high speed steels done in the Seki line.

Re: Dragonfly 2 w/ Dragonfly Tattoo Handle Swap?
Would it possible to replace the handle of a Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189 with the stainless steel handle from a Dragonfly Tattoo? Here's the picture of the Dragonfly Tattoo: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfqMADNX0AEC0W6?format=jpg&name=small You’d have to drill out the flush pins on the stainless steel h...

Re: Looking for Custom Scales for Dragonfly 2
Cuscadi made the Koa wood scales which replaced the orange FRN scales on my first Dragonfly. They didn’t have the D-shaped pivot hole and the pivot screw spun freely until I ended up using CA glue to secure the female side of the screw in place. I wouldn’t repeat the experience, personally, and woul...

Re: Interest in a Spyderhawk 2?
Yeah I’d be interested in either the current version redone, or an updated version. SE LC200N or VG10 would get my vote, although I’d still get a H1 version, of course.

Re: Considering Hawkbill for Gardening (sharpening question)
As said, the sharpmaker is a great tool and makes it easy. Great choice on the Tasman for gardening. For the life of me I can't figure out why they don't make an H1 SE Spyderhawk Salt as a production knife and try to market it to the gardening and landscaping community selling through online garden...

Re: Considering Hawkbill for Gardening (sharpening question)
Welcome to the forum. :) I’d invest in a Spyderco Sharpmaker, and call it money well spent. Used properly, it’ll have benefits for all of the kinds of edged tools used around the home and garden. And it’s safer to have a sharp tool at hand than a dull one. If you wanted to go minimalist, you could u...

Re: S110V question
The only time I ever chipped my M390 PM2's edge was cutting stranded wire at an angle. I think it the high lateral force on my 30 degree inclusive edge that made it chip. I can see how stripping wire could exert similar forces. A more obtuse microbevel should help a lot with durability. I think I'm...

Re: 2020 SouthFork Sprint Poll
Gotta be K390 here ground nice and thin like a Phil Wilson knife should be. Got both the South Fork and Sprig and my only complaint on the South Fork is that fat factory edge. Yes, good point. I generally thin out my knives behind the edge, before use. It occurred to me, while I was doing this on t...

It’ll sharpen out fine, and you’re going to have to sharpen the knife anyway, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Been giving this one a run lately: https://i.imgur.com/MeHV1hp.jpg Thanks. :) Yeah I think the combo edge in this steel in a PM2 length blade is a great edge configuration. I’ve actually been preferring it to full SE. I’ve been enjoying the wilderness pics here lately, so here’s some of my local ar...

Re: Found this guy on the side of the road
Cool find. I’d wash it in a basin of warm, soapy water then flush it with oil after it’s dry.
Then a progression of wet and dry sandpaper to clean the rust off (say 800,1200,1500,2000 grit) and resharpen and you’re good to go.
