^ So basically, you needed to do a little work on it to remove the burnt edge and course grind lines.
P.S. Did you ever fix the broken tip on yours or not?

^Initial edge is rather irrelevant to me, I always sharpen my knives first BEFORE I use them, precisely because of burnt edges. I just needed to know if the thing could hold up to what I'm going to do with it. Bear in mind I don't have a ton of sharpening equipment. I have a sharpmaker with the stan...

^ Okay then, duly noted. It sounds a little like my Caly ZDP, that thing seeks my fingers! While I'm not a fan of M4 (my sweat eats it), I could see that a as sprint run. Maybe some Grey or blue G10 to match the patina? Might be nice for the folks that love M4. I wonder if there's any decent s...

Blerv:That would actually be pretty funny, but according to Yab, the revised edge is actually not bad. ^ Warp Wrap is those stupid plastic clamshell things with the heat seal. I usually cut though the thinnest section I can find. Granted I usually carry 2 knives with me, so.... don't think it matter...

^Ah, mystery lumber, THE BEST KIND :p Well I usually cut zip ties with a sawing motion, and usually from the side, and I usually work around knots. The most common kind of wood in these parts is oak, maple, and black walnut, none of which are terribly hard far as I know. I just make feather sticks a...

Nilakka issues resolved?
Okay, so I've heard a LOT about the spyderco Nilakka, and I REALLY like the look of the knife. But before I can think of buying one, I have to ask, does ANYBODY know if the issues regarding the blade have been fixed? I know the blade became infamous VERY quickly for being extremely fragile, and I wa...

I like the design, but I'm already in for the nishijin/damascus stretch sprint and that was the last of my spending money for the time being. Still, I DO wish I could see one in person, I bet their gorgeous. I loved the colors picked for this one, the red-orange bone and the yellow bolster...... bea...

Can you use the more common white-tailed deer here in the US as a source of antler material? Is so, please come to the northeastern US and take ours, they are freaking everywhere! They eat my landscaping, run over innocent pedestrians and bikers, I tell you they are a menace! I second this, we can'...

Evil D: What happened to me was that I did enough work on it to straighten the burr, but not QUITE enough to cut it of on the stones. I checked with a flashlight after Donut posted and sure enough, there it was. I was excited to work on my new knife, and I forgot rule number one: If you have a steel...

Can't make ZDP shave, doing something wrong?
I recently got a laminate ZDP caly for my birthday, and I've been doing some sharpening work on it. I got it sharp enough to cut a circle in phone book paper, but it won't shave hair. Am I doing something wrong, or does it just not shave very easily?

I have to be pretty careful with my steel choices and where I take them. I sweat Xenomorph blood evidently, because I managed to make D2 pit like all **** when I tried it. I can't use ZDP either, pits on me as well. Generally anything like 440C, S30V, VG-10, etc. will be fine unless I take it near s...

DC huh? I have a couple of buddies down there I might visit at some point, if I ever manage, I'll let you know. So that's one of the originals huh? Nice looking little sharp, though 3V isn't normally a favorite of mine, I'd imagine it would do great as a small fixed blade. I know what you mean by th...
