Re: Native 4 black serrated... anymore left

Thank you Paul! I love learning stuff like this. I have a Native I picked up at the factory second sale that has a brown FRN handle with XHP steel, but I've never been able to figure out which model it is. By your description I believe it is a Native 1. Your Spyderco collection is amazing btw.

Are the Edge Matters knives still available? How would I go about getting one if they are?

Re: Native 4 black serrated... anymore left

Can anyone link to or describe some of the differences between the various Native models? I've tried looking online but my google-fu seems to be weak today.

Re: Factory Tours?

The last time I was at the SFO they showed me what I was doing wrong with my sharpmaker. Basically I wasn't keeping my wrist perfectly straight, but having someone that knows the product actually show me what I was doing wrong solve so many frustrations I was having. They also showed me how to look ...

I just got my preorder fulfilled through knifecenter.com, I didn't actually that it was going to go through. I preordered 5/26 and saw they charged my card this morning, 7/25.

Re: BHQ Paramilitary 2 CPM M4 Exclusive.

I was hoping that they'd last until tomorrow. I've bought too many knives lately and couldn't afford this one until payday. I can't believe how fast these went! Congrats to everyone who was able to pick one up. Now I'll just sit back and drool over all of the pictures once you guys start posting them.

Re: Spyderco Sharpmaker vs. Lansky Controlled-Angle Systems

Also remember to go easy and let the stones do the work. If you give it too much pressure and try to force a knife sharp you'll just fracture the edge out and make burrs. The sharpest edges I get are when I take my time and do very slow gentle passes. I think this was the biggest mistake I was maki...

Re: Spyderco Sharpmaker vs. Lansky Controlled-Angle Systems

I too have been thinking about picking up a Edge Pro Apex system, but will that really solve my problems? I've spent a good amount of time and money collecting knives, but I still find the sharpening process to be extremely hard and difficult. I find myself questioning the fact that I have really n...

Re: Spyderco Sharpmaker vs. Lansky Controlled-Angle Systems

I also have the SM and diamond rods along with the Lansky system. I've had the diamond rods on the SM for a few weeks now and they have helped me out a lot and save a bunch of time, but I'm still working on keeping my knife perfectly straight and getting my bevel super even. I'm close, but it's not ...

Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?

I picked mine up from Knife Works and I still have my pre-order in with Knife Center. I'm going to leave my pre-order in with KC and see if they actually come through, if they do I'll just give it to my dad.

Well, I broke down and bought one. This is my first Military model and I figured with all of the hype around this one I might as well check it out.

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

No, but I do use one or three every day. As you can see, I cut a lot of different things. Some for fun, but most for work. I just figured out what would work the best, drew it, and coincidentally it really does. I too, love all the respect we have in this big ol' family. I sounded trollish - you're...

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

Thanks for the warm welcome Sal and everyone. I got my first Spyderco at the factory seconds sale 8 or so years ago and like most I've been hooked ever since the first one. I look forward to learning what I can from everyone.

Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?

When did you guys put your order in? I put a pre-order in on 5/26 and I'm afraid I got in way too late in the game. I'm thinking I should try to pick one up else where. Anyone know if these are in stock anywhere?

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

Jazz, I'm curious, have you ever designed a knife before? Any experience making knives? It looks like you're a chef so I'd imagine you know your way around a knife pretty well due to that fact. Being a new member around here and not really knowing everyone's personality, when I first read this threa...

Re: Neighborhood Bug Dealer

I'm fortunate that I live so close to the SFO, so I guess that would be my neighborhood dealer. Though I don't buy factory first runs from the SFO, it's really nice to be able to go checkout all of the models and have my EDC touched up on the Sharpmaker by the kind folks working there. I remember on...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

I just ordered the Stretch sprint run in burnt orange and HAP40. This will be my first exotic steel and I couldn't be more excited to get it in! Most of my blades are S30V, VG10 and I have one in XHP. I do have the KC 52100 Millie on pre-order, I guess I've been bitten by the sprint bug :spyder:.
