Alcyone a sporty gentlemans knife
I'm a watchmaker. Many years ago if you told me a Chinese watch could be well made, and decent quality, I would have kindly told you that you're wrong. I had been brainwashed to believe that only Swiss/Japanese could make a good watch. Then one day I discovered Seagull watches and frankly I was blow...

Re: Cat in bd1n?
My local knife store has one, and it's really quite a nice little knife. The steel on it is slightly different though it's CTS-BD1N which means it's the nitrogen version. the only thing I wish it had was jimping for your thumb.

Re: China and tariffs
My only concern is a sub $100 US economy model could effect the premium image of the much more expensive US models. A company that tried something simular was Gibson guitars and they shot themselves in the foot with it. Is the $55 US made UK penknife in BD1N steel hurting the sales and image of the...

Re: China and tariffs
Companies like Buck, and even Gerber can make a USA made knife for the same price if not cheaper then many Chinese made knives. For example a buck 110 here is $65 Cad. Where as a Spyderco Alcyone is $85 Cad. But the kicker is Buck uses a extremely inexpensive steel. Which because of their heat treat...

Re: China and tariffs
I think China just like Japan and Taiwan in the past will have to increase their quality to remain competitive. I feel like knives like the Alcyone are already decent quality and will fair a little better. But some questions I have. Is there a huge markup in knives? I worked in the watch repair/jewe...

Re: Cold Steel Finn Wolf: your thoughts?
I like the overall style but I just find the whole "Finn Wolf" written across the blade to be a little cheesy, but that's just my own preference. I find the blade to be very Morakniv which I guess is what they were gunning for. Combined with Aus 8 you have something that's on the same leve...

Re: Scientific Evidence that Knives are not to be banned?
To me a knife should be a fundamental right as it's essential to our survival just as food, clothing, water, and shelter are. Humans thousands of years ago evolved when they realized they could use a sharp rock to cut things and created the first crude knife. It was a huge turning point and I would...

Re: Alcyone Sprint?
Looks like an authentic to me. If you look at the stock photos from blade hq they look much the same. I think so to after watching a Nick Shibazz vid. What threw me was the other night they had one were the grey was barely on the handle, and I think with the light shining directly on it it made it ...

Re: Alcyone Sprint?
It might be a optical illusion. The one they had that looked really clear has sold. These ones are more grey but the showcase light shines through them, so under the light they look less grey and more clear. http://i.imgur.com/4MageJK.jpg If you can see the scales are clear on the sides with a thin ...

Alcyone Sprint?
I was in the knife store for Black Friday, and they had brand new Alcyone Spyderco's but the handles were clear. Is this some kinda sprint run or something new for 2019? Every Alcyone I've seen on the internet has a grey handle.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.

Re: Why was the G10 Crossbill discontinued?
Good question. IMHO the comet hole actually suits this blade shape and make it look much more cooler then the Spyderco version.

Re: Cara Cara stiffness
If you tried adjusting the pivot screw and that didn't help I don't think there's anything you can do.
I could be wrong but I believe since it's a lock back the blade pushes against the spring tension when opening which creates friction. The only way to reduce it would be to have a weaker spring.

Re: Reality-Check please: Are our VG10 Knives slowly poisoning us?
OP, just think about this lead is something like 1 atom from being gold. Out in the wild lead turning into gold is impossible. But it has happened in a nuclear reactor. Like others pointed out it's impossible for it to pick up that other atom outside a reactor. But its not a bad question. We've take...

Re: New? Immerse!
It maybe ok for you guys across the pond who can find Spyderco dealers / stores where you could possibly handle the knives before buying .... I am in the UK and I cannot find a dealer anywhere that sells spyderco off the shelf so I have to rely on YouTube reviews and buy online .... I have bought l...

Re: New? Immerse!
I wonder how many people actually choose Spyderco as their first knife? For me it was a long journey. When I first caught the knife bug, I chose CRKT and SOG over Spyderco because sadly at the time I was fixated on spring assisted knives. Everything else was meaningless to me. Now I've had knives fo...

I can't make a prediction, but after watching a blade HQ vid where they tested spyderco lock strength. I would be interested in seeing a couple more models with the bolt lock.

Re: People still like Benchmade?
Being a Canadian and with knives getting harder to buy every day, I wanted to finally buy a Spyderco and a Benchmade...I've ended up buying 6 Spyderco's and 0 Benchmades. Here's my feelings/experience with benchmade. Quality control issues. When I went to the store to try them out I found just about...
