If you have diamond stones, it can be done.

Also, if you have a LOT of time, it can be done with the brown/gray stones.

Your best bet would be to find someone in Romania, like a knife maker, who has belts or a paper wheels to reset the grind.

Open or closed, it is the same.

The opening and closing is what stresses the spring-leaf or coil.
