P.S. Scientists have to pay bills, feed the kids, and put clothing on their family's backs too. If man made global warming means you get funding for your project, you're not going to be too eager to support or explore the other possibilities, cause there's no money in that. When it means getting yo...

I bought my first Spyderco from SMKW about 20 years ago. That was about the last time that I bought anything from them.

I have always wanted to visit their showroom in TN, though.

Granted I don't know what you said (or how) in your email to Sal, but generally anger wont get you very far. Next time try a concise letter of concern. People tend to respond better when we use stern words rather than aggressive. The email was professional, concise, and considerate. I even waited 2...

I'm not a fanboy, just someone who hasn't had a noticeable performance/aesthetic flaw yet. I've handles upward of 100 Spydies in the last couple years. It's a production knife company. Some people are picky. Few of those work in a knife QC department so their opinions are interesting but hardly qua...

That sounds like you need to find another dealer for future buys. Why should the dealer be responsible for checking every knife that they sell? This is the sole responsibility of the manufacturer. Like I posted later in that post, from this point on, I will have the seller throughly inspect the kni...

While I don't agree with the original posting's wording, I have been disappointed with my last two purchases of Spyderco knives. One knife from Taiwan and the other Seki. I own and have owned many, many Spydercos since 1990. The last straw was when I sent my NEW Balance stainless to Spyderco warrant...

Anything that uses a Parker Gel refill is great for me!

I prefer roller ball pens using the gel inks. I like the way that they write and don't get sore in my hands after a long period of writing.

If the company has a written policy prohibiting his actions, then he does not have a leg to stand on in his lawsuit. He should have been fired. Most companies have policies regarding carrying firearms on the job. These are meant to reduce liability from their employee's negligent actions. How would ...

Without seeing the consistent fit and finish coming out of that facility on prior models, I might agree with you. They have set the bar high on the Sage and Vallotton among others. If they can do it on them, then they should be able to do it on every knife. If they have to eat knives that don't pass...

I am not sure how much it would add to the cost of each item produced to maintain a high degree of quality. I would think that if it cost $5.00 more per knife, for example, I would be coming out ahead! At the rate that they pay these folks in other countries, it might be 50 cents per knife to give i...

The only issue, other than this one, that I have read about is the grit in them. I have one and the only thing wrong with mine was the grit. In fact, the sealed bag had grit in it. I oiled it up and the grit is no longer an issue. The Chaparral is a great little knife! It is very frustrating when yo...

If you have diamond stones, it can be done.

Also, if you have a LOT of time, it can be done with the brown/gray stones.

Your best bet would be to find someone in Romania, like a knife maker, who has belts or a paper wheels to reset the grind.

Don't turn someone loose with a grinder!

I own and have owned a lot of custom knives. I have sold most of them due to financial concerns. My favorite knife and hard to decide. I had a Carson M4 Medium with 440V blade that was one of my favorites. I also treasured my Terzuolas. I have had several Onions, Manaros, and many others that I real...

Open or closed, it is the same.

The opening and closing is what stresses the spring-leaf or coil.

I just received a NEW stainless scale Balance and I am not very happy. I just sent an email to Spyderco letting them know about it and I intend on sending it back shortly. You need a "dummy" cord.

Tie one end of the cord to the knife and the other end to your dummy.

Or, get a Gear Keeper.
