Re: Personal knife categorizations?
Categories are really the basis of my knife interest. Besides general EDC, where I like to rotate or adapt to the ever changing agenda for the day, I try not to have more than one knife in each category, so whatever I have is usually my current favorite. I also have very few knives that falls outsid...

Re: Your New Knife Ritual
I’m not sure it’s a conscious ritual, but I see a pattern evolving. Unconspicuously get my self to the post office to pick up the package, usually by walking the dog in the late hours after the girlfriend has gone off to bed. Untraceably remove and dispose of the external packaging before I enter th...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
My first Spyderco fixed blade arrived today.
As did my first spyderedged knife.
Siren still in the mail, and more planned. Crazy days.

So true, Sal.
There isn’t a slightest part of me that wants to save money at the expense of unfair play, whether it’s salaries, working conditions, environmental responsibility or IP. People need to wake up, be more responsible and look into the consequences of their actions.

Knife center exclusive Dragonfly in Hap 40, I guess I would be tempted to carry if I was inclined to carry a knife when wearing a suit.
The Chaparrals are quite gentlemanly as well.

Re: Siren
You guys are such a nice bunch of enablers. I ordered the Waterway about two weeks ago, should be here this week. And now the Siren is incoming as well. Shame on you... http://everydaycarrot.net/onewebmedia/IMG_0014.JPG ...and also, thank you. I predict a future with lots of use for both of them ;)

Re: A Manix 2 with a sharpening choil instead of a finger choil would be perfect, IMO
I have no experience with the Manix, but it has its loyal following, so probably wise to not change it too much. Personally I'm not a fan of finger choils on larger blades that has enough grip area anyways. And me having narrow hands, that means anything larger than the Chaparral. I realize there is...

Re: What’s up with the military?
..... The funny thing is that the Para 3 only has one vote and it has the most sprints/exclusives of anything in the past 2 years, yet the Military and Endura are 2 of the top 3 models here and don't get much love in that regard. I hope DLT and St. Nicks put out some Cruwear and 4V exclusives in th...

Re: EDIT: Just WOW! FINALLY!! (Sal, may I ask: Any plans for an Endura (or Pac Salt) SE in FFG?)
Hmm.. I have a Manbug salt incoming just to check out those serrations you all are raving about, but ETA is more than two weeks away, so I might just take your word for it and jump with both feets into the SE hole, and pre-order a pac salt SE right away. Not a deal breaker, but I wish they would ha...

Re: Warm vs Cool weather carry
To me what ever type of job I'm doing has far more sway with me than if it's cold or hot outside. Absolutely. But as a just in case knife, nothing disappears in a cargo pocket like a Dragonfly 2. Any other decently sized knife I slip into the cargo pocket of my shorts, I always notice it's there, b...

Unless I’m expecting to do something that requires a certain type of knife, default knife for shorts carry = DF2
These parts of Norway have something like 10-20 summer days a year, so there are lots of opportunities to carry other knives

Re: Deep carry clips
Got to agree with the OP on this one. If it’s a deep carry clip it should be real deep carry. Almost doesn’t really cut it. Where I live both the laws concerning knives and their social acceptance can be a little unpredictable, so in an urban setting it’s always better to keep a low profile and not ...

Re: Spyderco Siren Observations
There are still PE Aqua Salts for $135 shipped for US residents if you browse ebay. Probably some left at knife shops too if you poke around. For me the advantages of each design is as follows: Waterway + smaller sheath footprint + more comfortable for my thumb to rest on the spine due to no thumb ...

Re: Shop / garage / beater knife.
I don’t really subscribe to the idea of beater knives. Either it’s a knife task and a well made knife should handle it reasonably well, or it’s not a knife task and I use a different tool. I’m not afraid to use my knives in a way that eventually will wear them down, atm. the growth of my collection ...

Re: Spyderco Siren Observations
Hi aicolainen, I’ll throw my 2 cents in and offer a little insight into the Waterway design. One of the goals I had when designing that knife was to create a knife that I could throw in a dry bag and head down the coast on a multi day kayak trip. I wanted a “do everything” knife that could handle f...
