Topic: benefits of G-10 handle vs FRN handle

I've always liked FRN better. Just how it feels to my hand. I never really associated FRN with cheap. I always thought of it as utility rather than cheap.
Of course I'm also the guy that used to be made fun of for carrying "combat tupperware" when I brought my Glock to go shooting.

I've been playing guitar for 24 yrs. Now I feel old. Heh. Been in bands and played solo acoustic stuff. I've been in a couple of bands that lasted for years and gigged regularly. It hasn't been updated in a long time but there are some mp3s there. http://www.localnumber69.com/main_frames.html Here I...

There is an ATS-55 D3 clipped into my waistband as I type this now - and it has been there since some time in the 1990s... :spyder: It's a great little knife. I had an Endura with the molded clip before I got this Delica, but I don't remember the steel. As soon as they came out with these ambi clip...

The Delica 3 I carried for over 12 yrs is ATS-55. Always seemed like a good steel to me. Stayed sharp enough and sharpened up easy enough.

I do work in an office. A few years back I had to open a box of paper in the copy room. One of the boxes that has 2 plastic bands wrapped around them. I pulled out my Delica and cut the bands and a co-worker says, "What do you need that big knife for?" I thought, "Big knife?" But...

I carried the below pictured Delica 3 for over 12 years. Now I primarily carry the Delica 4 also pictured in the photo. The big difference was the D3 was my EDC for that entire time. The D4 is part of a really large rotation of carry knives. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/paradiggum/IMAG0004...

I carry a Ti handled UKPK often enough. I picked it up because it didn't look "tactical" and it rides low in the pocket. Never had an issue with it.

I agree with the Meadowlark 2 being a great little knife. I've traditionally carried a Delica so this was a no brainer choice for a "work" knife. I like it a lot. Ended up buying a few. I've given quite a few as gifts as well.

I have a lot of knives. I mean A LOT of knives. But the Delica often finds it's way into my pocket. It's easily one of my favorite folders.

Being left handed, I like the removable clips since most of the models can be swapped for my preferred way of carry. So for me metal clips were most certainly an improvement.

I find my taste actually leans toward the FRN. I like that it's usually lighter, and generally I've found it's easier on the pockets.

I've been known to carry a Paramilitary in my left hand pocket. If I'm going to carry a right handed knife in my left pocket I prefer tip down carry. It makes it easier for me. Normally I carry tip up unless it's a knife the size of the Military. It can work. Though being left handed means I'm more ...

I have both and like both. With these two it comes down to comfort and grip angle. The Glock fits me better because of the angle of the grip. That's the only real reason for preference. But that's in general. I prefer the grips of the 9,40 calibers. I have a 21 in .45 and it's too big around. My Sig...

I didn't used to but I do now. Not really because of value but because I have more than one or two knives that I regularly carry and I use the boxes to store them. Like Evil D, I'd rather not have them just tossed in the safe or drawer.

How did you maintain that Delica? Did you regularly disassemble it for cleaning? I've been wondering if I need to do that with the Stretch I carry daily. (I know it may void the warranty but I'd rather void the warranty and not need it than have it and need it... If that makes any sense.) I used an...

I have a Delica I carried, used, played with for 12 yrs and when I replaced it the reason wasn't functional. I just wanted a new Delica 4. After 12 yrs of daily carry and use I have no qualms about Spyderco midlocks. That Delica has no play in any direction and it's not loose at all. Nice and smooth...

Unless it has sentimental value where I'm afraid it might get ruined or lost I say use it. I carry everything from a $7 Opinel all the way up to a $425 small micarta Sebenza. I also usually have something on me that falls somewhere in the middle. Delica, Para2, Manix 2 and so on.
