It even shines up a tiny bit up after 1-2 minutes of stropping. Completely unnecessary with a steel this hard imo, but maybe it refines the surface a little and inhibits oxidation or maybe it just looks prettier. I'm still on the fence with stropping.

Sharpening 15v steel with less than $50 of supplies and why my guided system collects dust. (Baryonyx+CBN Plates)

Ok, so I took this as a fun challenge since we started talking about the supposed necessity of guided systems for sharpening a knife like this. This is a 15v Spyderco Manix 2. The cost of the knife was considerable, the cost of these sharpening stones is not for most. I believe you can purchase ever...

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!

I still need to carry the Goddard to be honest. I'm sure it would have seen more pocket time had I not picked up an FRN Stretch XL around the same time. Gotta love that thin distal taper of a Spyderco clip point. Really allows the best of both worlds. Keeps it thin and slicey near the tip.

Re: Sharpmaker Diamond vs CDN Rods for Sharpening CPM 15V

I don't know that I should promote a competitor here... but anyone looking to try out CBN should look at Woodturners Wonder's #600/#1000 plates. Extremely affordable, anyone who has used a Spyderco, DMT or similar diamond coated plate will probably notice how quickly the stuff breaks down and smooth...

Re: Sharpmaker Diamond vs CDN Rods for Sharpening CPM 15V

People get freaked out by the gritty and rough feeling of plated diamond/cbn abrasive sharpeners, but that is just good abrasive feedback for the user to know it is working. Use a light touch and you will be thankful to have these abrasives on such a hard piece of steel. As far as Diamond vs CBN... ...

I need a cellphone with a lanyard hole🤣 I drop it once a month.

Hey now that is a great idea! Maybe Apple can charge us $45 for a sleek lanyard hole that plugs into the charger port.

Better view. Ok, that's it for today. I definitely appreciate being able to slap a lanyard on my knife. I know they may not be for everybody. Long live the holes of lanyard on Folding Knives! : )

Haven't dropped a phone since smart phones became a thing so I'm good on that front.

That is just downright impressive! I have heard the splat of death on more than one. Those things just aren't made to fall face first! :thinking :squinting-tongue

Re: Show us your lanyards!

to each their own. i don't even like to carry knives with silver clips. i wouldn't carry one with a lanyard dangling out of my pocket. and if im carrying clipless i want the knife to feel slim and compact, the lanyard would add bulk. That's understandable if you want to keep things concealed. I hav...

Re: Show us your lanyards!

Zancudo, I have a brown one, great knife, it flies out with authority even with my broken thumb "the knuckle is twice as big as normal" . Some knives I cant open fast with my thumb. I also have his big brother Avispa, its the same, flies right open. I really like the Essee Framelocks. Stu...

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!

I was thinking I'd get one of these, but I'm carrying the S90V CF Siren today and I can't really see much of a difference between the two. It’s funny because my thought process was similar and I reached the opposite conclusion. I like the siren and like the idea of the goddard essentially being a l...

Re: New Stretch 2 XL: Compared to PM2 & Endura

I own and use them all. The stretch has been my preference for years now. Whether it be the new, big version or the original size in either its 1st or slightly altered 2nd iteration. The forward finger choil and ergos make the Stretch more inviting to my big gorilla mits than an Endura, and the PM2 ...
