So we are still probably talking about 300 or less. Nice. Does Sal & Team ever say? I don't recall the quantity being released with the last batch. Just some fun estimations.

This is my first Mule...well... I bought 2. So first two.

Used the order 999 trick to get a message showing 250 in stock.
So we are thinking 250 total count? When I checked it was down to 186, but I'm guessing you checked early...first order? You are good!

Awesome - This will be a rare one. Fun!

I would prefer not to have a web etching, but that's just my thoughts. It wouldn't be somethnig I'd buy normally. I guess I'd consider it as forum run, but I'm not sure. I really like the Spyderco mechanical design and materials. When it comes to flair...I'm not sure those types of etching "do ...

Are you sure about the course stone. I think you may want Fine/Extra fine if it's a DMT diamond. They process alot of material quickly. Course may be too much. Also seen a guy cut a 15 degree angle on a two by four and lay the stone on it. Then just keep the blade pushing away and horizontal to your...

All these options been have proven risky, but derivatives as a traditional investment? I can guarantee the investing in Spydercos is less risky than derivatives. Well that depends on the depth of your understanding of them and how you use them. Yes, for 99% of the people who know what the word mean...

Thanks guys! You've given me the information I needed. In other posts folks had made reference to the knives consistently increasing in value. So my creative side was investigating this concept as an excuse to buy more. I do tend to shop for great deals. So on that level I'm sure I'll be fine. And l...

Not sure, but they sure do make great knives. I suppose it would be interesting to know from an academic point of view. Certainly wouldn't change my opinion of Spyderco, and I might even respect them more if they didn't. I think people get way to hung up in Six Sigma, LEAN, the latest fad business t...

Sound advice...but it doesn't support my desires... :D So in your opinion, in general, the expensive more exotic knives could lose value off of their purchase price? That's good to know - I won't go over board. I should just buy what I honestly think I want to use. I guess as a follow-up, what has t...

Spydercos as "investments"

I've never been a big believer in investing outside the traditional facilities (stocks, derivatives, banks, real estate, etc.) So with that said, this post isn't necessarily about buying Spydercos solely for the purpose of making a return. What I'm trying to determine is if I buy several, or even al...

I've had a similar change of heart. Initially I thought the Military was too big. Now I'm becoming fond of it. I still need to find a use to justify it for though. Perhaps a little big to carry regulary and I decent enough chef, with a great set of knives, so a pocket knife is never going to cut it ...

I voted for the Manix variation because the FFG is just so darn appealing in that package. I love my Manix II s90v, but they are expensive. A cheaper variant would be a nice workhorse. On the line of the CAT, I'd love to see some small variant of the Chicago. It's already s30v and carbon. So just a ...

I llike the Caly 3 or maybe the new model. That would be a great idea. Similar to what a Mini-Manix II could be. G10 is fine. I'm in love with CF, but G10 scales are growing on me. I still can't say enough good things about my Manix II, s90v with CF scales. Absolutely amazing. Anything liek that in ...

I agree that if you enter into an auction, agree on a price, then you should honor it. I don't know many places in the world where you can go around making deals and back out when ever you want. Maybe Iran, Samalia, Nigeria, but that's not a common way of doing things in any of the United States. Ne...

I agree with the original post 100%. I don't have a large collection, but I feel like at a minimum Spyderco produces an incredible knife, and sometimes you get one that is magical. Sometimes being quite often. I feel like I always receive at least what I pay for. Absolutely a great product hands dow...

How about a simple approach. Have a 2 week Forum ordering period. Maximum of one knife per person. After that anyone can buy what they want. And to make it really exciting, how about making that knife a Mini Manix 2 (i.e. a gentlemen's work pony...) or a mega Manix 2 for the forest (i.e. a folding m...

I'd like to see a small gentlemen's folder. Your Cat and Chicago line are nice little knives. A CF handle, a wire clip and a unique blade steel would be nice. I wasn't fond of the skeleton blade, but a unique emblem or colored CF scale (maybe multi-color weave - Red?) would be fun. Or a titanium sca...

I do like the idea of Forum members each having a chance at one. So I'm guessing we've really got to be on the ball to order one, huh? Any warning? Maybe a 2 week count down? Geez I hope a day doesn't go by that I don't check the forum! At the moment, I'm reading it way to much.

Any thoughts on the characteristics of these two steels? Both are new to me...as is most Syderco steel. I'm getting excited about trying my hand at making a set of scales for a Spyderco fixed blade.
