Re: I love the Spyderco Endura

I have scores of fancy coveted exclusive knives in exotic steels and yet I find an Endura in my pocket in excess of 50% of the time. It is truly a great design!
Make me one in Cruwear and I'd be over the moon ;)
(Although I must admit Super Gold fills that niche pretty dang well :)

Re: Cruwear Endura

Just got notification that k390 Enduras are dropping. Strangely I'm not that excited. I have a G10 P4 that I use a lot and love and will probably get a K390 Endura just because I love the model but dang it, what I really want is a Cruwear Endura run at about 62-63 HRC. That is what I dream of!

Re: On knife design and the virtue of usability

Nice essay Zulu!
Totally agree that end usability is hardly discussed while people obsess about steel, scale material, etc.
Thanks for the remarkable start to a neccessary subject of discussion :)

Re: M398 Steel Testing – Edge Retention, Toughness, and More

Great article Larrin!
I find s90v to be really the minimum toughness/edge retention balance I will buy in a stainless steel.
I appreciate that you put M398 in a context that correlates to end user balance and performance.

Re: What steel balances attributes best?

Since implementing diamond and CBN abrasives I've really come to find that most, if not all, steels can rapidly made "very sharp". A corse DMT Diamond and a bit of strop is easily carried and utilized.

Re: What steel balances attributes best?

I'm with Vivi on K390's balance of edge retention to ease off sharpening. Too bad it's not stainless :) That being said, Albatross has hit the nail on the head with S90v. I started carrying an S90v Manix XL two weeks ago and for the life of me can't find a single thing to complain about! Great ergo...

Re: Holy Cow! Delica 204P rocks!

Larrin addresses the carbide type in 204p class steels and why they are easier to sharpen: "Microstructure The high chromium content in M390 means that less of the high hardness vanadium carbide is present in the steel, and the majority of carbide is the lower hardness chromium carbide. The vanadium...
