Got a sharpmaker here with your name on it :D Sharpmaker is the only good way to sharpen serrations. I think depending on the usage every once in a while a Spydie should go back to the factory for sharpening/re cutting the serrations. Spyderco has been kind enough to donate some knives for the Canadians to have a Canadian pass around. :)

The pattern may have been patented, in which case the patent would have expired years ago. The name they gave that pattern, SpyderEdge, is a trademark but I don't believe the actual serration pattern is.
