Re: Is Police Model Stainless SpyderEdge C07S still made?

Sad to hear of changes. In my mind the C07s has been, and always will be the most iconic Spyderco. The PM2, as great as it is, is a flash in the pan compared to the Police Stainless.

Re: Small Blade For A Parkour Athlete

I am an active person and I like spring clip lockback Spydercos best for carrying IWB (in waistband). That's my preferred way of carrying a knife unless I am wearing a big pack with a lumbar strap. For me most recently that's been a Delica, RockJumper, or Native. I also often carry small fixed blade...

Re: Any chance of SE Bugs?

The tiny Clipitool has a little serrated blade and that'd be more than enough blade for a single blade Bug.

I'm a little sad that the UK Salt doesn't have the drop point like the regular UK FRN but I'm still thrilled to be getting a salty Slip-It. This is huge!

Re: bevelled Spydie hole?

There is one company that uses the Spyderhole, let's not get into verbiage around "uses" vs. other potential word choices, but:

They bevel the Spyderhole super smooth and it makes for the worst possible user experience. Do not buy, do not pass Go, do not collect 200$. So hard to open.

Re: Who wants more BBL and BAL ?

Count me out. I think it is an awful lock, that is bested by a backlock in every aspect. I've tried them on multiple occasions, in half a dozen different models and each time I say the same thing. "Eh! Would be better, if it had a backlock." I have to agree. I won’t avoid a model having a...

Re: Spyderco Spin

I had one of these, and sadly, lost it. It was a great knife to clip on, a handy short sharp blade. The same needs are fulfilled for me, albeit with far less style, by a Manbug Salt or Ladybug Hawkbill. I'd always considered the Spin and the Cricket two halves to a whole. With the Spin discontinued,...

Re: Rock Jumper comparison thread + general info

I have to confess, since the RJ SE came in, I haven't carried a single other knife. I'm on cloud nine nirvana with the RJ.

The FRN scales are very good and VG-10 is nice as always but I can't help but imagine having a blinged out RJ with K390 and CF scales!

Re: The negative blade angle wharncliffe that I wish existed

I really like what this design represents. I've always appreciated the very slight negative blade angle already seen in the Delica and Endura and many other Spyderco models which I prefer strongly to straight angle designs by most other makers. I think taking the negative blade angle further adds a ...

Re: End of 2020 Opinions on VG-10

I like VG-10 a lot as a regular carry, it's quick to touch up and responds well to stropping. It's also delightful in SE, performs quite well. I would pick just about any other steel if I had to cut up a lot of abrasive materials like cardboard, rope, or carpet, though. That's its biggest weakness. ...

Re: Native 5 Stock Replenishments?

Bit off topic (sorta) but I would love to see that fluted pattern ground into more knives. It could really be Spyderco's trademark scale pattern. There are a couple other companies that come to mind that have had a trademark (and very marketable) handle grind pattern and if the fluted pattern was m...

Re: Expand Golden, CO made offerings?

Spyderco does not typically move models from one facility to another. More complicated models are often made in Taichung to take advantage of their high-tech production capability and the stronger dollar. The Delica family has always been made in Seki-City (for decades) and likely will never move fr...

Re: K390 FRN models - Has Seki improved the edge angles or sharpness?

I just touched up my Delica K390 a little bit but it's safe to say the Delica was one of the best Sekis I've received in a long time, in both F&F and sharpening. (F&F was flawless on the P4 too, though.)

Re: Lightest Weight Spydercos...?

I'm concerned about its safety...you want a really safe knife in the backcountry and the Ikuchi has no guard. A forward hand slip might be an issue. Also it is reported in other threads as difficult to open...no spyder hole for positive thumb activiation. Might be difficult to deploy in cold weathe...

I'm a fan. The Astute packs quite a big blade into a small package. I hope it gets popular enough to justify a steel upgrade.

Re: Lightest Weight Spydercos...?

The Spyderco Vagabond, which was a unique design and terribly underrated, was 2.8oz and had an integral sheath. Pretty good if we’re counting discontinued models. I’m a little bit of the old school mentality though. If I’m carrying a knife on a trip, I definitely do prefer it in my pockets rather th...

Re: Lightest Weight Spydercos...?

I think that some people might have the wrong opinion on how UL backpackers hike. UL backpackers don't often make fires, so a knife is mostly a handy tool for FAK, packaging, food, and absolute last ditch firestarting and survival. A saw is extra weight. A fixed blade with sheath is extra weight. A ...
