Re: What is your favorite spyderco?
That's a really, really tough question TBH. Sentimentally, it's my Delica. My wife bought it for me for Xmas '15, and it was a total surprise gift. It wasn't even at the top of my "want" list, so I didn't expect it even if I'd expected to get a knife in general. Functionally, I would proba...

Re: Spyderco 2017 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming
Looks like another big bunch of releases being shipped from Spyderco to dealers the rest of the year like last year with possibly all of these: Lil' Native CPM-S30V Compression Lock Black G-10 (USA) Manix2 CPM-M4 Black DLC Blade Natural G-10 BladeHQ (USA) Para3 CPM-S90V Textured CF Sprint (USA) Par...

Re: Para 3 vs Paramilitary 2
Sage, Native, Caly3 all have superior ergonomics to Para 3 IMO. I'd recommend a Sage 5 for getting as close to the Para 3 as you can, or a Native 5 if you want something American and/or a lockback and/or a slightly better steel.

Re: Sliverax vs. Ouroburos
I was lucky enough to have the Ouroboros that Paul sent around. I thought it was a really nice knife but I didn't like how tall the blade was. I ended up getting a Sliverax and I'm extremely pleased with it. I'm not really sure why people get so hung up on Teflon washers. The OB that I had was very...

Re: Sebenza v. Sage 2 (Fit and Finish)
I am a Spyderco fanboy. But I think if you have the opportunity to get a CRK, it's worth doing at some point in your knife collecting journey. If you have a chance to handle them in-person, do so. I personally chose the Small Inkosi over the Sebenza because I prefer the changes they made, especially...

Re: Sage 1 & Sage 5: A visual comparison
I love my Sage1 ! I like everything about it: the fit and finish, the looks, the feel in hand and pocket, how it performs.I like it so much that I've got me a back-up, just in case. It's the best 3 incher I own. The Sage is just a near-perfect overall design, so much so that the Chaparral being a sm...

Re: Sage 1 & Sage 5: A visual comparison
I really appreciate the fact that the Sage5 does not have a recess for a liner lock on one side of the handle like the Sage1 and Sage2. In fact, the Sage5 ergos are most like the Sage4 (Sage3 has the extra handle height). This plus the great feel of nested liners makes for my favorite in-hand Sage....

Sage 1 & Sage 5: A visual comparison
So I went to Mark's Outdoors today, as I usually do on Fridays during lunch, and when I arrived I found that they had re-stocked the Sage 1. They don't usually have one of those in stock all the time, and since I had brought my macro lens in hope of an early Chaparral FRN sighting, I took the opport...

Re: What's the appeal of deep carry?
I'll be honest... I don't really have any more or less difficulty getting my deep carry Spydies out of the pocket than the spoon clip models, and I've never had any. I don't have a real preference one way or another, at least not functionally, although I prefer the wire clip in an abstract sense bec...

Re: Discontinued For 2018 - OFFICIAL List
The Slysz is an appealing knife and I have held one and there is no denying how nice it is but the price is high and it is undoubtedly a knife just for knife nuts. I assume that sales have dropped. It is out of reach for many people. A lot of the knives cut this year have been some of Spydero's mos...

Re: Am I the only one who has expensive knives but carry my inexpensive ones?
I collect users. I definitely understand those that safe queen their high-end stuff, but I carry all of mine. That said, I don't carry my Nirvana or my Sage 4 to do yardwork either.

Re: Spyderco T-Shirts
Do yours fit good Sharp Guy? Maybe we could get some more input from people, as orders start rolling in. I'm 5' 10' 165# thin build. The t-shirts I buy really depends on the shirt. Sometimes a large fits well sometimes a medium is better. I saw pics where someone was showing off their new Spydie sh...

Re: Discontinued For 2018 - OFFICIAL List
Hey, everyone: I'm bumping this back up for an update. We've recently added the C186TIP - Slysz Bowie to the list of discontinued items for 2018. I've edited my original post accordingly but I didn't want it to get overlooked. Kristi Well that's unfortunate. It's had a good run though. I guess I kn...

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
Even if it's around $80, that's <$15 more than a base Delica, and you get a really nice steel upgrade, slicier blade, thinner/lighter knife, 50/50 choil, and Taichung construction. That's a deal if I've ever seen one. I think you have to go to the ZDP-189 to get a comparable steel on a Delica outsi...

Re: New Models Dropped: Shaman PE/SE, Hundred Pacer
Nice shots! Always look forward to your threads. That Shaman is starting to look irresistible. Don't want to sound demanding, but is there any way you could maybe include a photo or two of all these great new knives from the thickness point of view? Like from above while they are open and edge down...

Re: "Talkin' Story"
I don't have a specific story really, just a few years of experiencing the occasional "OMG sharp thing" reaction to taking out a knife. That reaction is, however, why I tend to carry a smaller knife to social events and the like. The Dragonfly and Chaparral are ideal for this, as is my CRK...

Re: Name a Spyderco knife you fell out of love with ;)
This thread is already proof as to why Spyderco is right to keep both the Millie/Endura, PM2/Stretch, Delica/Native/Sage/Para3(Caly 3 when it was in prod.), and so on. Similar blade length does not redundancy make, not when there are other differences that matter. All that "overlap" and &q...

Re: New Models Dropped: Shaman PE/SE, Hundred Pacer
Is it just me or is the bevel kind of uneven in that PE Shaman? Doesn’t look right to me towards where it meets the choil. I noticed it too. There's not really a recurve, but more like a sloppy finish to the grind and a bit left unsharpened. In this pic, it's even more pronounced. If I had this one...
