I just noticed...

So my computer's background is: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4721/25287551237_3b694b9f75_z.jpg Capture3 by dplafoll , on Flickr And as I was looking at it just now, I noticed that the nose of the Spyder on the left... is a Sharpmaker stone, as seen from an end. So how behind am I on noticing this?...

Re: Interest in Shaman Maxamet sprint run.

I'd think that Maxamet wouldn't be a sprint, but regular production like the other Maxamet models...

M4, Cru-Wear, M390... now those are some sprints. :p

Re: Mantra 3 mixed feelings

1) S30V is a great steel, and totally a good choice for this knife. 2) Just about any steel change is going to have people who like the choice and those that don't. Since there's no One Right Answer, this comes down mostly to subjective choice. 3) Also, for every person that wants M4, there could be...

Re: 2018 Spyderco Knives by Eric Glesser

Mantra 3: Eric told me that they were doing a Mantra 3 with a compression lock and a stainless steel at Blade '16, so that gives us an idea of how long it can take these things to develop. I love my Mantra, but I am super tempted by this one. I prefer the all-Ti look, but I do like this one a good b...

Re: Techno to be discontinued

Sal told me at Blade Show '16 that the Techno would've been discontinued and replaced by the Techno 2 already if they hadn't still been selling the Techno so well. Either that wasn't happening anymore and/or they decided it was just a good time with all the other turnover.

Re: Sliverax question

^^ That about sums it up. It's easily in my top 5. The flipping could be better but there are ways you can tweak that if you're into modding. My only real complaint is how much I want a sprint version. This here. My Sliverax met or exceeded every expectation I had of it, and it was the biggest must...

Re: Sage Users: Tell me about this knife.

I have the 4 and 5, and I'd love to grab the rest of them. I think the Sage is an extremely good-looking design (along with the little brother Chaparral) with excellent ergonomics and a fantastic blade. It's probably the most distilled version of the "leaf blade + finger choil" Spyderco pa...

Re: Spyderco You Love...with one major flaw...

The Sage 5 and Para 3 are practically identical to the Para Military 2 in terms of closing the comp lock. The Shaman and the Lil' Native require getting used to where to grip the lockbar, but once you do it's pretty easy.

I love my Techno, and I respect the Native. But I would absolutely recommend the Native first for a general EDC knife.

Re: Confessional

Well.... At first I thought the chap lw should've weighed less than it does and was kind of disappointed that it had a steel backspacer. After carrying it awhile, I was wrong. I love everything about this knife. It has totally kicked the df2 out of my pocket and this knife is my current absolute fa...

New Models Dropped: Lil' Native, Native 5 Composite

Thanks as always to Mark's Outdoors in Vestavia Hills, AL. Aside: sorry for the delay on getting these up folks. Unexpected snow on the day I usually visit the store will do that. :D Album link: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmaD76Uy https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4738/24170053137_9598649af1_k.jpg Untitled by...

Re: Why no more Autos?

The number of valid use cases for autos is greater than zero, hence Spyderco will probably make a knife to fit that use case. This is, after all, a company that makes a whale rescue blade, of all things. :p

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

But you won't see too many G-10 models coming from Seki in the future, at least in pocket knives. Most will go to FRN, for which they excel, like the new Police 4. sal Wait... what?!? Sal, did you just say that there will be an FRN Police 4 in the future? Has that been talked about before and I som...

Re: Taichung Sprint Runs

Sliverax: M390/CTS-204P/CPM 20CV, full CF (no laminate) handles, probably with peel-ply texture for grip. Sliverax: same steels, Ti handles w/ integral compression lock. Mantra: CTS-XHP (or M390 family), upgraded flipper mechanism w/ stronger detent, maybe a CF show-side handle like someone else sug...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

Just a reminder: MAP stands for "minimum advertised price". It has nothing whatever to do with the price at which the product is sold, just the price at which it is advertised. If a dealer wants to sell Spydercos at $5 apiece, they can absolutely do so; otherwise, it's price fixing and ill...

Re: Bigger, (or smaller)than expected?

My Sages seem to be bigger than I think they are every time I carry them. Really it's the Sage 5 since I don't carry the Sage 4 very often. But I think it's because my Chaparral is so similar in both design and both have CF handles and my brain is calibrated to the Chaparral. Also, the Sliverax is b...

New Models Dropped: Chaparral FRN, Squarehead FRN

Thanks again to Mark's Outdoors in Vestavia Hills, AL for letting me handle the knives. Also, thanks to the unnamed gentleman who graciously allowed me to photograph the Chaparral before he purchased it.
