Re: Finally got a sharpening system
I love my KME. Worth every penny, especially if you ever want to profile a knife and/or you have very hard steels.

Re: Techno 2
They told me that a lot of the new models will be out fairly close together starting in the fall and into the winter. Techno 2 was one of the earlier ones, and the Drunken was one of the later ones.

New Models Dropped: Caribbean SF PE/SE, Lil' Native Black Blade
As always, thanks to Mark's Outdoors in Vestavia Hills, AL for allowing me to handle and photograph these. Album link: https://www.flickr.com/gp/57770516@N06/1850k6 Caribbean Sheepsfoot PE/SE: I am very, very impressed by these. I wish I had a use for this knife so I could justify buying it (alas, s...

Re: 2018 Spyderco Mid-Year Product Guide - LIVE!
Per the guide, it's equivalent to HAP40 in terms of metallurgy, so probably pretty similar (will patina, not really rust-prone with a minimum of maintenance).

Re: Spyderco Reinhold Rhino Giveaway!!!
I'm in! Thanks! It's hard for me to say that I have any one person that I can call my "hero". But I will talk about my father-in-law in particular, since he served in the US Army in the tank corps during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He's not perfect, but I respect and appreciate him and his...

Re: 2018 Spyderco Mid-Year Product Guide - LIVE!
Oh maaaaan.... that is just a sick update. I thought I was done buying knives for a while outside the Techno 2, but holy crap there's gonna be a Spyderco x Sinkevich collab. It looks like a Spyderco'd ZT 0456, which I love, and I am just... wow. I can't wait to see that one this weekend if it's ther...

Re: Stropping S30V
I strop after sharpening to finish and refine the edge I've gotten. But the main reason I have and use strops is for maintenance. S30V has done well for me in terms of stropping after a day of use to get the edge closer to where it was fresh off of the stones. It won't work forever, naturally, but i...

New Model dropped: Throwing Knives
Thanks to Mark's Outdoors in Vestavia Hills, AL. Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmgVCzer Well, it's a throwing knife, in three sizes. I know nothing of if they're actually good, but they seem nice enough. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/828/39940386570_268caa84a9_k.jpg Untitled by dplafoll , on Flickr

Re: LC200N Caribbean
Man I sure hope there are no ball bearings in the Caribbean or any Salt knife ever, just another place to get gunked up, especially in a knife that will see a lot of that if used for fishing etc. I'm sure Sal just misspoke though. We are also learning that H1 may be better at corrosion resistance t...

Re: New Models Dropped: Lil' Native Backlock, SpyderHawk Salt Orange Sprint, Shaman Black Blade
Does the back lock version have steel liners or not? I heard Eric make that statement on a video from one of the shows, shot or blade, can’t remember. You know, I forgot about that. In looking back at my video, I can't see any liners in there and I think you're right that Eric said it was linerless...

Re: What do you want to see more of from Spyderco?
Two things I was going to mention (already noted), wire clip and no finger choil knives the size of PM2. Which got me thinking about Sliverax. This knife has both. Not sure why I can't bring myself to pull the trigger. I know what would make the decision a lot easier. ahem... sprint... ahem To be c...

New Models Dropped: Lil' Native Backlock, SpyderHawk Salt Orange Sprint, Shaman Black Blade
Thanks again to Mark's Outdoors in Vestavia Hills, AL for letting me photograph their knives. Sorry these took a few extra days to post. Album link: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmfrG7mg Lil' Native Backlock: I'm still impressed with this design. I think it's a true competitor to the Dragonfly 2 in that size...

Re: Any chance for a slysz bowie sprint?
We have seen other Taiwan sprints. The ppt comes to mind. I’m more interested in a more affordable Bowie 2 with one side g10 in a similar manner to the rubicon2. Its an expensive model at $300. How much would a full ti sprint with m390 be? $350? Seems out of reach to most people and not sure it wou...

Re: Native 5 Switches from S35VN to S30V
You guys know S35VN is not "5 better" than S30V, right? Users shouldn't notice any difference between the two. I really doubt anyone could distinguish the two from use. Agreed, I honestly don't get all the hype behind s35vn. I don't notice ANY difference between it and s30v, even in sharp...

Re: Native 5 Switches from S35VN to S30V
Hmm, I thought the switch had been made to S90V! There’s been a whole lot of different N5s released in that steel recently. ;) I asked about this one time at Blade, and either Sal or Eric (I can't remember, sorry!) told me that they save S90V for more premium or special models e.g. Nirvana, Tighe S...

Native 5 Switches from S35VN to S30V
From the latest Spyderco Byte: "After exhaustive in-house performance testing and tons of end-user feedback, we have also decided to change the blade steel of the Native 5 from its current CPM S35VN™ to CPM S30V®. This rolling change will be implemented as we exhaust our current inventory of pa...
