Wow Rinzler, how did you get yours in hand so quickly?
I'm very curious about Z-max, edge stability etc. Not a lot of practical/experiential info out there.

Re: Steel Poll - What new steel would you like to try/test on a Spyderco Mule Team knife
80crV2 is a great steel- not new at all but it would be a good test mule for comparison to other steels

Re: What makes S90V so special?
Does s90v take that nice grabbing edge like the other high carbide steels? In my experience, no. S90V is a strange steel for me, primarily used on a Southfork. It holds an edge forever but doesn't get the grabbing edge like k390 for me but stays with that edge for a long, long time. In the same way...

Re: A Kydex Thread
Question: to bring the kydex into the shape I want, is heating = softening it and then cutting it with regular scissors an option? Have you tried this? Or does fitting it while it's cold and stiff bring any benefits? Yes, heating=softening=shaping. You need to press it to form it. If you form it pr...

Re: Mule Team Connections - Curiosity
I joined because I asked the question, "What's the best pocket knife?" However, mule teams have kept me around. I've built skills in putting handles on, using kydex and leather, as well as learning to sharpen. I love the discussions and comparisons of steels as my tastes have become more r...

Beautiful work on here for sure! I use micarta or g10 rod/pins and epoxy the scales. It is straight forward and simple.

Re: health effects of sharpening
Sounds like the only potential issue are micron solutions. Usually with water involved and the slow speeds of hand sharpening there is not the issue of airborne particles.

Don't forget a sharpie. You also may want to add a strop (check Tandy) and some green jewler's rouge.

We will see more Calys, especially in K390 someday. I hope the lightweight version brings it back to the popularity it deserves. Hands down my favorite model.

Re: Mule Team Redux: Which steels would you choose?
Personally I don't want to see any repeats. I'm more eager to look for new and surprising steels that we have not seen before. Only retro steel I'd be interested in is 80CRV2.

Re: Why PD#1?
I think the K390 sold very quickly but PD#1 was an anomaly for how long it was available. It was odd especially with the demand for cru-wear. I think there was a great deal of pent up demand for mules fueled by them being available again. Who knows but I echo the applause of Spyderco for taking anot...
